As International Firefighters' Day, May 4 continues to be marked across the world, and dawns in the Americas, the meaning of this day endures:

We honour the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice or passed on before us. We remember their bravery and commitment, ensuring their legacy lives on.

Honour the past.
Thank the present.
Inspire the future.

This is not just a message for one day—
it is a responsibility we share, every day.

Friday night (3/13) at 8:34pm Russiaville VFD was dispatched to the 9400 block west on 200 south for a barn fire. While in route fire was visible within 1/2 mile from the scene and marked a working fire. Due to the high wind, building construction, and fire load the small barn was a total loss prior to arrival. Priority was given to protecting the adjacent garage and house located within close proximity of the fire. Other than a small amount of melted siding, no other damage was suffered to the other structures.
RVFD was assisted by Harrison Township VFD and Burlington VFD via automatic aid at time of dispatch. We would like to thank the members from both departments for your quick response and help on scene.
Thank you,
Chief L. Bartley
