In 2025, the Kokomo Family YMCA celebrated its 150th anniversary of serving Kokomo and Howard County.
For all that time, the organization has evolved and grown to assist its members and the community in developing healthy lifestyles, promoting youth development, and strengthening social responsibility.
That evolution continues today with the advent of new programs and opportunities, explained Trish Severns, CEO of the Kokomo Family YMCA this morning.

Severns said the membership organization has expanded its prehab and rehab service opportunities, child care programs, and therapy services.

Rotary District 6560 Governor Stephanie Moran visited the club this morning and shared how Rotary affected her life in ways she never thought possible.
Stephanie got involved in Rotary when she joined Anderson University, using it as a way to network with others and build connections.
Through that membership, she received encouragement and support through what she called "transformative Rotary relationships.
"Those connections have made me a happier, healthier individual."
She praised the city of Kokomo for rebounding after challenges found in automotive industry changes. Stephanie said communities like Kokomo need services that Rotary can help fund, but also the connections and relationships Rotary can provide.

Kokomo Rotarians Nicola Dubois, Alan Girton, Santos Salinas, Bob Mason and Demian Harvey are downtown tonight raising money for scholarships.

Last year, staff and volunteers at Narrow Gate Horse Ranch provided Christian-based support and equine therapy to 221 children from challenged homes.
“It’s a safe space,” Christine Watson, spokesperson for the nonprofit program told Rotary Club members this morning. The students “can talk to the horses and let it all out to the horse.”
A multi-week curriculum allows students - aged 4 and up - to get acclimated to horses and use the animals as a way to break free of negative thoughts and pressures.
Grants and donations help pay program costs as well as provide staff, stabling and food for the horses.
Companies are also invited to use the ranch and horses for team-building activities, Watson said.
