Green Party of Alaska

Green Party of Alaska Greens support non-violence, social and economic justice, ecological wisdom and grassroots democracy. We don’t waffle around: human rights are for everyone.

Founded in 1990, many of those much-reviled “Outside environmentalists” happen to live in Alaska. We are people who care about this state and its resources—all of them—and want our grandchildren to enjoy them too. It makes no sense to use up the life of the land: we are its stewards for the sake of future generations, not its owners. we're about human rights

But the Green Party is about more than

environmentalism. We take an unequivocally strong stand on human rights, grassroots democracy, and social justice. We seek to honor cultural, ethnic, racial, sexual, religious, and spiritual diversity. your party for the long haul

We focus on the future consequences of our actions today. Other parties focus on the next election cycle in an increasingly polarized and ineffectual political climate. We support commonsense solutions to our energy and economic problems, to build up local businesses and take us out of the destructive boom-bust cycle. By recognizing the connections between the economy, community, and environment, we can gather information, build consensus, and make good decisions that will benefit present and future generations. the Green Party of Alaska: here for good

Why pursue "treknomics" as a political platform? How does it help lower the cost of gas?

Simple. People need hope to sustain themselves on the journey from where we are to where we hope to be in 7 generations.

Political parties exist to rally people around the policies that structure the economy to nurture the culture we cherish as our legacy. For the Greens, diversity is strength and for 60 years Star Trek has shown a future we got right. It serves to inspire us to focus on the solutions that bring us together instead of the challenges that drive us apart. That innovation can be a fuel for an economic engine that carries us to the stars, leaving gardens in our wake.

This video, which looks behind the current of Treks vision is beautiful because it reminds us that the search for trek is not a march towards perfection but a voyage of the human condition where energy goes into defining a "better" future rather than recycling old habits that look better but hide darker truth. The evolution of to***co products is a perfect example.

We want to focus the conversation on a better quality of life for all and not on the next IPad for a few.

This includes local alternatives to petroleum, like renewables, and how data centers can become baseloads of reliable power and the nodes of a decentralized energy systems. Where the water is recycled and the heat utilized for home and industry.

We know its time to imagineer a new world and this is simply how we choose to begin- with hope.
