On our last day of school our middle school spring extra curricular participants were recognized as well as students receiving honor roll for the first 3 quarters. Below are pictures of the academic super bowl teams, girls and boys soccer teams and the girls and boys track and field teams. Great job representing Kouts Middle School this spring!

It’s been a busy and engaging year for our high school forensics class, so here are a couple of unposted moments! Detective Smith and Detective Perez from Valparaiso Police Department made multiple visits to talk about different aspects of forensics and how they play a role in their day to day jobs. Jeff Roseboom from the Indiana Fire Marshal Department visited to talk about fire and explosion investigations and some of his arson investigation cases. Students participated in countless labs this year ranging from bite mark analysis to toxicology tests, where they put their knowledge to the test!

Although the forensics class worked hard with their spring mock crime scene, they were unable to gather sufficient evidence to make an arrest. After some additional detective work, three teachers were arrested for their involvement in the crime: Mrs. Mikovetz, Mrs. Clinkenbeard, and Mr Breininger. As it turns out, Mrs. Mikovetz was responsible for the accidental death of her fictional brother in-law, Mrs. Clinkenbeard used her science knowledge to help decompose the body, and Mr. Breininger was the muscle to help dispose of the body. A special thank you to all of the staff involved in this mock crime scene, we couldn't have done this without you!

Kouts High School students in Mrs. Birky's Management class recently celebrated the completion of their Chick-fil-A Leader Academy year by creating and presenting "Small Town, Big Thanks" Certificates of Appreciation to nearly 40 businesses in the Kouts community. Students have been studying the challenges of owning and running a business in a small community, and wanted to recognize and show gratitude to business owners who have made the commitment to run a business in our small community, in spite of the challenges. Their hard work and sacrifice make Kouts a great community and we appreciate them all!

Earlier this quarter, the high school forensics class learned about arson cases and created their own handmade structures with an arson storyline. On Monday, the students got to work with the Kouts Fire Department to set their structures on fire and determine if the story matched up with the burn pattern evidence left behind.

2026-2027 Student Registration is now open! We are excited to prepare for another year of academic excellence across our Kouts, Morgan Township, and Washington Township campuses. Please complete registration for returning students by May 15, 2026. New student registration will be held in late July. Note that while registration is happening now, elementary class assignments and secondary course schedules will be finalized and available in early August.
