With winter storm alerts currently stretching a staggering 2,000 miles across central, southern, and northeastern portions of the United States, it's a good time to make sure you know how to operate a generator safely in the event of a power outage. Some safety tips to keep in mind include:

📏 Keep generators at least 20 feet away from your home
🏠➡️ Direct generator exhaust away from buildings
🚨 Ensure there are working carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in your home
⛽️ Avoid refueling a generator while it's running or still hot

Keep yourself warm by dressing in layers when temperatures drop. Wear 2-3 layers, a beanie, some gloves, and waterproof boots to keep your body heat in and the cold out. Bundling up makes all the difference!

Today, we pause to remember the brave souls who gave everything for the freedom we hold dear. 🇺🇸 Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering devotion to something greater than themselves remind us what true honor looks like.

Each flag waving in the wind, each candle flickering in remembrance, tells a story — of love, of duty, of hearts that beat for others before themselves. These heroes may be gone from sight, but their spirit lives on in every act of kindness, every moment of unity, every breath of freedom we take.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted. May their bravery guide us to live lives of purpose, gratitude, and compassion — the very values they stood for.
