Position Summary:
Reports to the manager, finance & administration. Responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties in compliance with Management and Training Corporation (MTC) and Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC).
Essential Functions:
Perform receptionist duties: answers telephone and directs calls as needed, greets incoming guests and directs as needed; receives incoming mail and parcels for the facility.
Post routine journal vouchers or accounts payable vouchers; entering vouchers in registers; post subsidiary ledgers or simple cost accounting data.
Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data.
Maintain routine accounting records and reports in accordance with established procedures such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory control or general accounting records.
Process payroll, insurance reports and petty cash.
Perform miscellaneous clerical duties involving typing, filing, accumulating data and preparation of repetitive reports.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Maintain accountability of offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, one (1) year varied and responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience, and computer proficiency required. Academic training in bookkeeping, accounting or payroll, and experience with automated accounting systems preferred. Valid driver's license in the state of Idaho with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post-Hire Qualifications and Training Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
