Posting on behalf of the Empey Family:

In Hoc Signo Vinces
IN LOVING MEMORY OF JARED EMPEY

Jared Empey was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Born in Ammon, Idaho, to John and Susan Empey, Jared was the second of eleven children and was raised with a deep love for the Gospel. After graduating from Hillcrest High School, he served a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina, an experience that strengthened his testimony and helped shape the life he wanted to live.

Jared met Steffanie on April 12, 2010, and 118 days later they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they built a beautiful family and Jared's greatest joy was being a husband and father. He adored his children, called them his best friends, and worked tirelessly to give them a life filled with love, faith, and adventure. After the loss of their son Joshua in 2017, Jared found
healing and connection with God in the mountains. Hiking became a passion, and he loved sharing those adventures with his children, always carrying Joshua's beloved Pete the Cat with him.

Jared was also deeply committed to serving others. He loved his work as the City Treasurer for Kuna and felt privileged to serve the community he called home. In 2019, he and Steffanie became foster parents. Over five years, 52 children entered their home, and Jared loved and cared for each one. He made a promise to God that if He would take care of Joshua in heaven, Jared would take care of Heavenly Father's children who needed him here on earth. He kept that promise faithfully.

Above all, Jared loved God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He had an unwavering testimony of the Atonement and the Resurrection and a firm belief that families are meant to be together forever. Jared leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and adventure. His absence leaves a hole that will never be filled in this life, but those who love him have hope in the promise that, through Jesus Christ, this is
not goodbye forever. Until we meet again, all our love.

Funeral services for Jared will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 224 E Avalon St. Kuna, ID 83634, on Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10:20-10:50am

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the family: Venmo:
