Ok, June 30 is the date for final vote and approval of the upcoming Budget for the Pleasant Valley School District. They're targeting a 1% increase which equates to 0.25 mills. PVSD runs on a fiscal year, July 1 - June 30, but from a tax collecting perspective, we must bill and collect within the same CALENDAR year. Therefore, new school year begins July 1, and your school tax bill issues August 1. This bill must be collected by December 31 of the year in which it issues. However, the school taxes paid in this calendar year are covering the homeowner as paid through June 30, 2027. While no one likes paying taxes, and certainly the words "tax increase" inspire moans and groans from taxpayers, it's important to note that the 1% increase on an average assessed value of $143,289 is $37 more annually.

Winding down to the end of Discount on the County/Muni tax bills. Thursday, April 30 is it. I'll be in the office that day from 1-5 PM. If you use the Dropbox after my Receiving hours, be sure to press the doorbell mounted above it to prove timely payment. Otherwise, your payment will be sent back and you'll be in the Base amount. You can pay online up until 11:59 PM to prove timely payment. Same deal - late payments online will be refunded and the Base amount due.

Tax office will be OPEN 10-11 AM on Wednesday April 22 & 29. This time is in addition to the standard hours of Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00-5:00 PM both weeks.

Heads up Taxpayers & Title Companies: I will be on vacation next month. May 11-20. I will not be able to return emails or phone calls. (I'm leaving the laptop and office cellphone at home!) I will be back in the office May 21 at 1:00 PM.

Did you receive a letter from Monroe County Tax Claim? If so, please direct your calls to them. Please send your payment they’re citing as delinquent to them. As Tax Collector, I can only collect CURRENT year taxes.

Your Spring tax bills have arrived. Problems with the bills? (Name, Address, lot descriptions), call Tax Assessment at 570-517-3133. I cannot update or correct any of those issues.

Meanwhile, if you have an old bill, you may go to my website and enter your Tax Account number (hit "Search") and pay your bill online. The Jack Rabbit Connect payment portal link is LIVE.

Attention Taxpayers: Spring Tax Bills (County/Municipal taxes) will issue for their March 1 bill date. If you do not receive your snail mailed bill by March 6, please email me your account number or parcel number and request a copy be returned to you via email. Remember, failure to receive a tax bill does NOT relieve you of the responsibility to pay the tax bill. Online payments via credit/debit cards and E-Checks will be available once again this year.
