Once again this community has stepped up to help those in need and we couldn't be more proud. Town Staff delivered two truck loads of food, along with $3,500 in monetary donations to The Help Center yesterday. Many families will benefit from your kindness and generosity. Thank you for answering the call to help and spreading some holiday cheer.

If you still wish to donate to The Help Center, they accept on site donations as well. They are open Monday through Friday, 10 AM through 12 PM and are located at 7 N 3rd Street in Carolina Beach.

Town Hall and the Kure Beach Holiday Market are also collection sites for Toys for Tots donations. This year we collected $600 in monetary donations and a very large pile of toys to help the local community.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity this year. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and happy and healthy new year!

See below for information on the rescheduled Free Summer Concert Series...

FINALLY

COVID Rules now allow us to schedule four Free Concerts previously cancelled during the Summer of 2020. The difference of course is reflected in the name - DRIVE-IN.

We will be lining the field with automobiles spaced 6-8 feet apart in single rows. Larger vehicles and trucks will be placed in the rear of the main field to help the sight lines of smaller vehicles. We will have volunteers direct cars to their appropriate spots. Please respect the decisions of the Volunteers - remember this a FREE Event.

The concert is from 6:30-8:30. We will open the gates at 5:30 in such a manner that we have time to direct you to specuific spaces. We ask that once parked, please do not leave until the show is over and then please exit in an orderly fashion. If you arrive prior to 5:30, pleae pull to the right on the incoming drive and park until we open the gates and then proceed in an orderly fashion as directed by our Volunteers.

Beer, Soda and Water wil be availabkle for sale on site by the Base. We hope to have food trucks also for your culinary cravings.

Sound will be broadcast through your radios in your car as well as rolling down your windows. You can set up chairs adjacent to your car, but please understand that we will enforce 6'-0" distancing. If you leave your designated spot to get refreshments and/or visit the restroom, please wear a mask to protect your neighbors. Thank you ahead of time for following the basic COVID Rules!

Remember , attendance will be limited and we may fill up fast. Please be patient with the Volunteers and we will finally have some great LIVE Music!

Thank you to the Pleasure Island Chamber, the Town of Kure Beach, Ft. Fisher Air Force Recreation Area, Soundwave Audio and our Musicians to make this all possible!

An American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR class was just added to the calendar on Saturday, September 19th from 9-11am at the Kure Beach Community Center.

Learn how to help during an emergency. This course covers how you can help a person who is in cardiac arrest by providing hands-only CPR and CPR with breaths. We'll also cover how to use an AED and how to help a choking adult, child, and infant. These skills are invaluable for everyone, as you never know when an emergency will happen.

This course is only $20 per person and is meant for the community. It is not a credentialed course for professionals. Contact Martha Marello at (484) 357-9644 or [email protected] with questions or to register. This will be a small, socially distanced class so limited space is available.

Kure Beach Yoga

Kure Beach Yoga is excited to offer a new opportunity to practice building resilience and to help train your body and nervous system to bounce back from stress and illness. This new weekly class, Yoga for Resilience, begins 9am Tuesday, September 6th.

Public Input Needed on Statewide Trail Network Plan

Great Trails State Plan would link trails in all 100 N.C. counties

RALEIGH – As people across North Carolina are using greenways and trails in record numbers, their input is needed to develop the Great Trails State Plan.

The Great Trails State Plan is a state Department of Transportation-led effort to identify existing trails and define what actions need to take place to connect those trails statewide. The plan builds upon local and regional trails to identify one overall trail network that is focused on connections to state parks and populated areas.

The public can provide feedback by taking an interactive map survey and a 10-question survey. Participants are encouraged to take both surveys, which close on Sept. 30.
