Hey, Brazos County! Do you know who your fire chief is?

The answer may not be as simple as you think.

Brazos County Commissioner precinct boundaries and Emergency Services District (ESD) boundaries don’t follow the same lines. In fact, County Commissioner Precinct 2 is served by three different ESDs.

Today, I had the opportunity to visit with ESD 3 Chief Matt Drennan and Assistant Chief Katlene Ginn, ESD 2 Chief Tradd Mills, and ESD 4 Chief Joe Warren as we work together on something special coming up next month.

Which ESD serves your home? Who is your fire chief? And what exactly does your ESD do for you?

On October 14, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the people who serve our communities, learn more about Brazos County’s Emergency Services Districts, and get answers to those questions and more.

🚀 Happy 250th Fourth of July from Brazos County District 2 FD! 🇺🇸✨

As we celebrate a historic quarter-millennium of American independence today, your District 2 firefighters want to ensure our community stays safe. Texas summers get incredibly dry, and a single spark can easily ignite a grass or brush fire.

If you are celebrating with fireworks in the county tonight, please protect your family and neighbors with these quick safety rules:

🚫 Know the boundaries: It is illegal to discharge fireworks inside Bryan or College Station city limits.
💦 Keep water handy: Always have a charged garden hose or a bucket of water right next to your launch area.
👨‍👩‍👧 Watch the kids: Never let young children handle fireworks. Even sparklers burn hot enough to cause severe burns.
🗑️ Douse the debris: Soak all spent fireworks and "duds" in a bucket of water overnight before throwing them in the trash.

Let's make this historic 250th Independence Day one to remember for the right reasons. Have fun, stay vigilant, and look out for one another!

🔥 Training Today for a Safer Tomorrow 🔥

Last week, District 2, Brazos County Precinct 4 Volunteer Fire Department, and Brazos County Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department crews suited up and headed out to a Wildfire Energy site for some specialized training: Oil Well Site Emergencies.

While we always hope for the best, we train for the worst. Oil field incidents require precise coordination, specialized foam applications, and a deep understanding of high-pressure systems.

A huge thank you to Wildfire Energy for providing instruction and allowing us to use their facility to keep our skills sharp.

🚒 Supporting Safety with Pilot Foundation Services! 🔥

Brazos County District 2 Fire Department was invited out today to instruct and incorporate some hands-on training during Pilot Foundation Services' Safety Week!

Our crew spent the day sharing critical fire safety and first aid insights, demonstrating our equipment, and walking an engaged crowd through Engine 221. It’s always a privilege to help promote a safer workplace for our local workforce.

A huge thank you to Pilot Foundation Services for having us out to teach and for presenting our department with a Certificate of Appreciation! 🤝✨

Happy Earth Day! 🌎🚒

Protecting our community means protecting the environment we all share. Today, we're celebrating Earth Day by highlighting a few ways we can work together to keep our corner of the world green and fire-safe:

• Practice Fire Safety: Always ensure campfires are completely extinguished and dispose of ci******es properly. In your home, ensure you have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. Let’s prevent fire spread!

• Clear Defensible Space: Maintain the vegetation around your home. Removing dead plants and trimming low-hanging branches creates a buffer that helps protect your property.

• Dispose of Hazardous Waste Responsibly: Never pour chemicals or oils down the drain or on the ground. Check local guidelines for proper disposal of batteries, paints, and cleaners.

• Conserve Water: Efficient water use helps ensure there’s enough for everyone—including our crews during emergencies.

Every small action counts toward a more resilient community. Let's do our part to keep our earth beautiful and safe for generations to come.

Welcoming the newest member of the fleet! 🚒

We are thrilled to announce that Brazos County District 2’s brand-new fire engine officially arrived at Station 1 this week!

This purchase was made possible by the continued support of our constituents. According to NFPA safety standards, fire apparatus should ideally be replaced every 10 years to ensure peak performance. This engine is the first of many planned upgrades to bring our fleet up to date.

A huge thank you to Safe Industries for the delivery, and an even bigger thank you to the citizens of our district. Your tax dollars at work mean a faster, safer, and more effective response when you need us most.
