🚌BACK TO SCHOOL TRAFFIC SAFETY🚓
As children return to school this week across the Hopi reservation and surrounding Navajo communities, it is essential for drivers to prioritize safety during this busy time. With school buses on the road picking up and dropping off children at their bus stops, we urge all motorists to remain vigilant and adhere to school zone and bus safety rules.
To ensure the safety of our children, please keep the following key tips in mind:
🚦 Slow Down: Reduce your speed in school zones and at pick-up and drop-off points where children board and exit buses.
🚧 Watch for Crossing Guards: Be attentive to crossing guards and always respect crosswalks.
🚌 Follow School Bus Laws: Never pass a stopped bus that has its flashing red lights activated and an extended stop sign arm.
📱Avoid Distractions: Stay focused on the road by minimizing distractions, such as mobile devices.
🏃♀️➡️🏃➡️ Be Extra Careful Around Children: Always be on the lookout for children who may unexpectedly enter the roadway.
