Student safety and privacy remain top priorities in our district. As part of our ongoing safety efforts, we have begun conducting random, unannounced searches of locker rooms, restrooms, and other designated areas using a specially trained Electronic Detection K9.

These K9s are trained to locate hidden electronic devices such as cell phones, cameras, and storage devices that could be used to secretly record in areas where students expect privacy.

Our first search was conducted on June 3, 2026, and no devices were found. Searches will only occur when students are not present, and the K9 searches spaces and objects—not people.

This proactive measure helps protect student privacy, deter misconduct, and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment for all.

If you have questions or would like to learn more about this program, please contact District Safety Officer Manuel Rangel at 360-263-2136.

Today our high school football field is serving a purpose far greater than athletics. Emergency services and first responders are utilizing the field as a landing zone for Life Flight as they provide critical care and transport for a community member in need.

We are grateful for the dedication, skill, and quick response of our first responders, medical teams, and flight crew. Please keep everyone involved in your thoughts, and help ensure emergency personnel have the space they need to do their jobs safely.

Thank you to our community for your understanding and support.
