La Crescent Fire & Rescue Department We are here to serve our amazing community!

05/25/2026

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. On this Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who answered the call with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.

May we never forget the cost of liberty or the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice each day. Their legacy lives on in our gratitude, our remembrance, and the values they fought to defend.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

May God bless our fallen heroes, their loved ones, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸

🚨RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Mike Poellinger, not sure how to capture your entire Firefighting/EMS career in a couple of paragraphs, but here it goes…

Thank you for 46 years of unwavering dedication to our community and for always answering the call when it mattered most. You’ve seen and adapted to decades of change, yet your commitment never wavered. It won’t be the same without you—who’s going to move the rigs to a different place or have our gear back on the truck before we even finish our assessment?! 😉

In all seriousness, you will be deeply missed, Mike. Please know the incredible impact you’ve made on this department and this community will never be forgotten. Wishing you many nights of uninterrupted sleep 😴 now that you’ve turned in your pager 📟

Our annual appreciation dinner happened last month, but we wanted to share a recap.

2025 was tough on our department as we lost one of our own. Assistant Chief Terry Meyer, who dedicated 25 years of service to his community, passed away. We presented Eileen Meyer, his wife, with his helmet that he wore with pride whenever duty called. Rest easy Terry, we got it from here brother ❤️

Under the leadership of Fire Chief Josh Tarrence , we ended 2025 with a team of 33 firefighters who responded to 478 emergency calls.

🍀🔥 Lucky to Serve La Crescent! 🔥🍀

This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re feeling extra lucky — not because of four-leaf clovers, but because we get to serve such an incredible community. 💚

While you’re out chasing rainbows, remember:
🌈 Test your smoke alarms monthly
🔥 Keep an eye on what you fry
🚒 And leave the fire fighting to us!

May your day be safe, your celebrations be fun, and your luck last all year long!

The La Crescent Fire Department is proud to announce that our team has learned a new life-saving skill — the ability to insert advanced airways (iGels) during critical emergencies.

This advanced training allows us to better manage a patient’s airway when every second counts, improving care during the most serious medical calls. We are committed to continuing our education and expanding our skills to serve our community at the highest level.

Your safety is always our priority. 🚒
