Town Road Crew/Maintenance Worker Job Description for
Town of Greenfield La Crosse County
Summary:
The following job description outlines the position of Road Crew/Maintenance worker for the Town of Greenfield in La Crosse County. Average work week consists of either part-time or up to full-time hours of work, depending on work needed to get done and the time of year. Assignments are supervised and outlined by the Town Board Chairman and Supervisors who will delegate duties and inspect the progress of work completed, in conformance with established standards and specifications, safety and economy of operations. Responsibilities:
• Drive Trucks, haul & stockpile dirt, gravel & salt, blacktop and fill for road and street construction repairs.
• Patch roads and streets with hot and cold blacktop mix.
• Check Culverts and shoulders; repair as needed.
• Erect road signs in accordance with state requirements, install & repair, make new signs as necessary.
• Operate power equipment, maintain & repair equipment in good operating condition.
• Plow snow/remove snow/grading, salt and sand town roads, as well as municipal parking lots.
• Operate chain saw, removal and hauling of trees, brush and stumps. Mowing, brushing, and clearing right of ways.
• Answer emergency calls and explain situations to public if necessary.
• Work during natural disasters by aiding in clean up and anything else needed.
Qualifications/Abilities:
• Employees in this position are expected to exercise some judgment in work methods and planning detail.
• Knowledge of general maintenance, construction, tools, and equipment;
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in performing maintenance, construction and repairs work;
• Ability to perform strenuous work, including heavy lifting;
• Anticipate on call and respond to weather emergency events requiring road maintenance under adverse weather conditions;
• Ability to operate heavy constructions and related equipment;
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions;
• Ability to document various reports and logs;
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin CDL driver’s license;
• Participation required in random drug and alcohol testing;
• Willing to work outside of normal work hours which are 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday- Thursday
• Reliable transportation at all hours, daily
