It's getting dicey!

Marine Credit Union wrapped up an incredible week collecting hygiene items for our Financial Food Drive and now they've passed the challenge baton to 32Thirty Financial, who will be collecting tomato products!

What makes this so special? These are essentially competitors in the financial world — yet here they are, uniting for a single cause: caring for their neighbors.

This is community at its best.

Stay tuned to see how 32Thirty Financial rises to the challenge.

The last two nutrition classes have been so tasty — oops, we mean interesting! 😉

In May, Emplify Dietitian Meredith showed us the many uses of bananas. Participants sampled baked banana oatmeal, protein balls, pancakes, and even banana peel bacon. Yes, you read that right — banana peel bacon! The faux bacon was met with skepticism, but all samplers gave it a 5-star review.

Then just last week, Emplify Dietitian Micheala showed us how to sneak veggies into our breakfast routine. Participants enjoyed smoothies and a Mediterranean pita pocket.

Participants left each class armed with new nutrition information and recipes — plus a gift for attending: a blender, and an omelet maker with a paring knife! 🎁

Up next: Join us Tuesday, July 14th at 9am at WAFER for a class led by Mary, FoodWIse Educator with UW-Extension, where you'll learn tips on stretching your food budget. This will be Mary's last class at WAFER as her time with UW-Extension will be ending.

Registration is still open, but spaces are limited! Call the office at 608-782-6003 or email [email protected] to register today.

If you’ve pumped gas at Kwik Trip lately, you may have seen WAFER on the screen.

We are so grateful to Kwik Trip—and to Stu Heifetz and Amanda Monroe who worked on this project. We appreciate the help spreading the word about our services and connecting with neighbors who may need food support but just haven’t found us yet.

Check out Citizens State Bank. They went full veggie‑detective this week, polling employees on which vegetables reign supreme. The debates were real, the loyalties were strong, and the results were deliciously entertaining. (Apologies for the language at the end) Thanks for keeping the fun growing.

A new shopper said this week, “I thought I was only going to get a little paper bag of food.” Many people assume that’s what a pantry provides — and in some communities, it’s true. But thanks to generous individuals, groups, businesses, and retail partners, WAFER is able to offer so much more.

Here, neighbors can select fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and eggs, meat, canned goods, bakery items, and additional choices depending on availability. Our goal for one package is to provide 3–4 days of food, yet your support allows us to exceed that again and again. Thank you, friends, for caring about our neighbors.
