While participating on our page, please know that we prioritize fostering an environment where communication is characterized by respect and consideratio

n. We require all participants to express themselves thoughtfully, acknowledging diverse perspectives while refraining from any form of disrespect, discrimination, or hostility. By upholding these values, we aim to cultivate a welcoming space where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the conversation. Emergency Programs
Providing lodging and utility assistance to families and individuals in order to prevent eviction, utility shutoffs, and to establish permanent housing. Additional services for Veterans. Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)
Helping low-income households offset the high cost of winter heating bills with a one-time payment to their fuel vendor (including clients that heat with wood). Self-Sufficiency Program
Assisting households with security deposits and partial rent payments for six months. Adults must participate in monthly meetings and trainings designed to increase their self-reliance. Weatherization
Reducing heat waste, improving indoor air quality, and addressing health/safety issues by caulking, insulating, wrapping duct work & replacing doors. Exhaust fans installed, some furnaces replaced. Housing Rehabilitation
Loans are made to low and moderate income homeowners for repairs to preserve the quality of their homes. Repairs to roofs, foundations, electrical, plumbing systems, and kitchens are common. The loans are 0% interest and are repaid when the ownership of the property changes. Homeownership Programs
Pre-purchase counseling and down payment assistance for eligible households. Foreclosure avoidance counseling and budget and asset education available for all. Caregiver Support
Providing services to support the growing number of caregivers in our country. When caring for an elderly spouse, an elderly friend, or if you’re over 60 and caring for a grandchild, Community Connection can provide equipment, minor home modifications, and individual counseling, as well as a short-term substitute for the caregiver. Also, Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six week workshop to equip you to take care of yourself while caring for a relative or friend. In-Home Care (OPI)
Assisting frail seniors, 60 years and older, with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, light housekeeping, cooking, and shopping. Aging and Disability Resource
Connection of Oregon (ADRC) Provides information and services to seniors, people with disabilities, their families and caregivers regardless of income. www.ADRCofOregon.org

⚠️ Important Community Alert: Romance Scams Are On The Rise ⚠️

We want to take a moment to talk about something that is affecting people of ALL ages right now, and it is more sophisticated than ever. Romance scams have increased dramatically, and today's technology makes them harder to spot than you might think. 💔

Here is what you need to know:

🎭 Scammers can now use a single video or photo found online to create a realistic deepfake of a real person, including someone who looks and sounds like a loved one, or an entirely new person who does not even exist. This means that even a VIDEO CALL is no longer a guarantee that you are talking to who you think you are.

🚩 Warning signs to watch for:
🔹 Someone you met online who seems too good to be true
🔹 Relationships that move very fast emotionally
🔹 Someone who always has an excuse not to meet in person
🔹 Requests for money, gift cards, or financial information
🔹 Stories that seem inconsistent or change over time

💙 Please check in on your loved ones, especially children and teens, older adults, and individuals with disabilities, who may be more vulnerable to these tactics. A quick, caring conversation could make all the difference.

🔒 A few tips to stay safer online:
🔹 Never send money to someone you have not met in person
🔹 Reverse image search profile photos
🔹 If something feels off, trust your gut and talk to someone you trust
🔹 Report suspected scams to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov

You are not alone if this has happened to you or someone you love. These scams are designed by professionals to be convincing. There is no shame in being targeted. 🙏

🏠✨ Thinking about buying your first home? Join our FREE online Homebuying Education Workshop on June 20th at 9:00 a.m.! This workshop can qualify you for up to $20,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance through Oregon Housing and Community Services. It is free, it is online, and it could be the first step toward homeownership.

📖 You should know... HUD and Oregon defines first-time homebuyers as someone who has not owned and occupied a primary residence in the past three years preceding the closing date of a new mortgage. So, you could qualify for the assistance even if you used to own a home but are now renting.

🏡💰 What if every dollar you saved toward buying a home could be worth six? With CCNO's Individual Development Account (IDA) program, it can be! For every $1 you save, the program matches it with $5. Once you reach your savings goal, that money can go straight toward your home purchase. Participants also complete free financial literacy classes along the way.
