A Family’s Tragedy with Consumer Fireworks.
A three-year old boy, Michael Shannon, was killed when a consumer firework struck him in the head during a July Fourth family celebration. June 1-7 each year is National CPR and AED Awareness Week, spotlighting how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED. Did you know about 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes? If you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love.

Crews responded to a single vehicle rollover crash at 2:30 am this morning in the 800 block of N. La Grange Rd. There was one occupant, the driver, who was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Loyola Hospital. Public Works crews worked on removing tree damage in the street and parkway as a result of the crash.
