As of NOW, we have 130,316 minutes and 442 readers! That's amazing! To stay on track to reach goal we'll want to have 200,000 minutes (our halfway mark) by July 1. You can do it! If you're waiting on logging your reading minutes, don't wait, log now.

Don't forget: if you complete the program you earn a sweet treat from Andy's Frozen Custard and a book from us! Babies & Toddlers read 1 hour (or 4 books); Kids in grades PreK-6 read 6 hours; Teens read 6 hours; and Adults read 12 hours. Log all your reading and complete 8 activities to complete the program. Program ends July 31.

Every 15 minutes of reading and each completed activity earns you a ticket to be placed into a drawing for a prize basket of your choosing. The more reading and activities you do, the more tickets you collect!

Looking ahead! 👀We have a super-fun and educational program that just happens to tie in with our Summer Reading Theme, Birds of a Feather READ Together (speaking of... keep logging your reading minutes and activities!)

Learn all about the diurnal and nocturnal raptors of Cook County!

A Naturalist from the Little Red Schoolhouse will explore the vital role these birds of prey play in our local ecosystem and where they can be found throughout the county.

Participants will take part in an owl/hawk pellet dissection to discover what our ambassador raptors eat.

Ages 10 and up with an adult. Registration for all attendees required.

Join Maggie Sheldon for a discussion of practical strategies to ensure your child with special needs has the right tools for success at home and school. This presentation offers a grounded approach to navigating the journey of parenting a child with a disability by focusing on three essential pillars: personal well-being, school collaboration, and practical home support.

Maggie Sheldon is the Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Professional Development of the A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative. She began work as a special education teacher before transitioning to a leadership role as an administrator. She also brings lived experience, as a parent of a child with a disability. Her professional interests include autism, literacy development, behavior, and crisis intervention.

Note: This presentation is designed for parents and caregivers; however, you are more than welcome to bring your child. To ensure a comfortable environment, sensory tools will be available for use throughout the session.
