Baseball is the National Pastime-on the field and in entertainment. No other sport has inspired so much literature, poetry, film, music, and performance. In this rollicking, humorous presentation, Garner explores the historic and literary reasons driving this phenomenon and how the Internet continues the tradition today.

James Finn Garner has been moderating the baseball doggerel site BARDBALL.COM for 19 seasons. He is also the New York Times best-selling author of Politically Correct Bedtime Stories and its sequels, as well as 7 other books.

For teens and adults. Light refreshments will be served. Registration required.

It's July 1, so that means our Little Free Library (LFL) Challenge starts today for the entire month!

In July and beyond, we want you to visit our Little Free Libraries (LFL)!

Send us a photo (with your name and phone number) of you at an LFL to [email protected] or post on Facebook or Instagram and tag us with . Everyone who does this will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. You will receive one entry for each LFL you visit.

If you can't visit the library during our open hours, LFLs are a great option. The library, in partnership with Community Park District , stocks ones in local parks to expand book access for all.

Visit Beach Oak, Hanesworth, or Robinhood Parks to choose books that appeal to you.

LFLs are also a great way to inspire others! Have you ever read something that you want others to experience? Leave a used copy at any of those locations with a note to let others know why that book spoke to, changed, or moved you.

Enter the drawing until July 31, 2025, but use Little Free Libraries year round! Winner will be contacted by email or social media.

Make it a family activity and get or give some books for summer reading!
