May 29th is National Composting Day!

Composting is catching on in LaGrange Park, and your neighbors are already part of the fun.

Residents are turning food scraps into something meaningful instead of sending them to the landfill. Whether you’re brand new to composting or ready to make it easier, there are simple options to join in.

You can compost at home or sign up for a curbside pickup for as little as $20 a month. WasteNot and Urban Canopy both offer convenient, flexible ways to participate, so you can choose what works best for your routine.

Every banana peel, coffee ground, and veggie scrap adds up. Over the winter, one family saved 151 lbs of compost. Imagine what we could do together. We’re building healthier soil, reducing waste, and doing something positive for our community.

Want to be part of it? Learn more here: https://illinoiscomposts.org, pick the option that feels easiest, and jump in. Any questions? Message us.

It's Bike to Work (and bike anywhere) Day!

You can celebrate by hitting the pavement on two wheels. 🚲

Choosing a bike over a car is one of the simplest ways to make a positive impact on our environment. Whether you’re commuting to the office, heading to the coffee shop, or just enjoying a ride through the neighborhood, every mile pedaled contributes to a greener future:

Zero Emissions: Biking produces no greenhouse gases, helping to keep our local air clean and fresh.

Reduced Traffic & Noise: More bikes mean fewer cars on the road, leading to quieter, less congested streets for everyone.

Conservation: Cycling saves energy and reduces the demand for fossil fuels.

Beyond the planet, it’s a great way to clear your head and get some fresh air. Dust off your helmet, air up your tires, and let's ride! 🌍🌱

April showers are right around the corner! 🌧️ Did you know a 1/4 inch of rain on an average roof can yield over 200 gallons of water?

Instead of letting that water run off into our storm drains, why not catch it for your garden? La Grange Park residents can purchase 55-gallon rain barrels through the MWRD for just $45.78 (including delivery and an installation kit!).

It’s a win-win: you reduce your water bill and your garden gets chlorine-free, mineral-rich water. 🌻
