There are Naked Ladies in the Park!?!?!?!

Wait a minute, calm down, it's not what you think.

"Naked Lady" flowers (most commonly Amaryllis Belladonna or Lycoris Squamigera) are perennial bulbs famous for producing foliage in spring that dies back completely before tall, leafless flower stalks shoot up in late summer to bloom with pink, trumpet-shaped flowers.

Because the colorful blossoms appear on bare stems without any leaves present, they earned the cheeky nickname "naked ladies" or "surprise lilies."

They thrive in full sun, require minimal summer watering once dormant, and are widely grown for late-season color in gardens.

More Information:

Height & Flower stalk - 18 to 36 inches tall.

Foliage - 12 to 24 inches long, spreading.

Bloom Timing - Late summer to early autumn (August–October). Blooms last 2–3 weeks.

Flowers per Stem - 6 to 12 trumpet-shaped pink blossoms per individual stalk.

Bulb Size & Depth - Large bulbs reach 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Plant 5 to 6 inches deep (top of the bulb neck near soil surface) spaced 8 to 12 inches apart.

Light & Water Needs - Full sun (6+ hours daily). Drought-tolerant; requires zero water during summer dormancy (excess water causes bulb rot).

PUBLIC WARNING:

Anytime your city/organization/cause is in the news, the scammers come out of the woodwork. I do admire their work ethic, to some degree, but please know there is a recent Facebook scam circulating related to the North Oldham Little League 2026 and their Little League tournament play.

Profiles are popping up that appear to be NOLL and even Little League. They place in their comments the names of different schools, organizations (like us), and local businesses, sharing a link to what they call "live coverage" of the tournament. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THIS!

Here is the link to the one and only active North Oldham Little League 2026 page. Here is the official Little League page. All others are fake and are trying to exploit you.

These pages typically copy profile pictures, cover photos, etc., but the telling sign is the number of followers. Many only have 20 or so.

I challenge you to share/tag this post as if I were the one who hit the 'pothole' at that Circle K that time...

BTW, good luck NOLL!
