In just a few weeks (June 27, 2025) we will begin to register and license Street Legal Special Purpose Vehicles (SLSPV) in Oldham County. KRS 186.077 outlines the requirements, prohibitions, registration, inspection and renewal of SLSPVs. Please understand that per KRS186.077(2)(a) that SLSPVs shall not be operated if the highway is located within the jurisdictional boundaries of a local government where the operation of SLSPVs HAS NOT BEEN ALLOWED BY LOCAL ORDINANCE. This means that SLSPVS CANNOT be driven in Oldham County UNTIL a local ordinance is passed by the County or individual cities ALLOWING them to be driven on roadways in their respective jurisdiction.

The Oldham County Clerk's office will register and license SLSPVs even if not allowed to drive them on the roadways in Oldham County in the event the owner travels to another county that does allow them.

Just a friendly reminder that the Oldham County Clerk's office does not issue or renew driver's licenses. We have received numerous calls and walk-ins from citizens wanting to renew or get their Real-ID. Please visit drive.ky.gov to schedule an appointment or locate regional offices that are accepting walk-ins.
