First populated by Austin's colonists - "The Original Three Hundred", then followed by German immigrants in the 1840's and Cze

There is currently a tree down in the road near the intersection of Horton and Fannin Streets. City crews are on the scene working to remove it.

Additionally, there is a water leak in front of the Randolph Recreation Center on Pearl St. City crews are on site working to fix the issue.

Our team is hard at work to resolve these issues. We recommend that drivers take alternate routes through town, if possible, and exercise caution when driving through these areas.

Closure Updates for La Grange US 77 Rehabilitation Project

August 31, 2026
La Grange - TxDOT will be finalizing Phase 1 of the US 77 rehabilitation project in La Grange, with the roadway being opened to traffic prior to Labor Day weekend. There will still be various work items (Sidewalks, Driveways, Striping, etc.) to be completed with minimal impact to traffic. Please remain patient and use caution while driving through the work zone.

Phase 2 of this project will be starting on September 14th, 2026 - weather permitting. This phase will involve closing the bluff for EIGHT DAYS to remove and replace the existing roadway surface from FM 155 to the Colorado River Bridge. Local landowners that live on the bluff will maintain property access throughout the closure. Please follow the signed detour routes.

Phase 3 will start at the conclusion of the Phase 2 bluff closure. This last phase will involve nightly lane closures to rehab the existing roadway from the Colorado River Bridge to BS 71 (Travis Street). Nightly lane closures are currently scheduled to occur from 7:00PM - 6:00AM and this phase will take approximately ONE MONTH to complete.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Public Information Officer, Lucea’n Kuykendall at [email protected] or (361) 293-4436.
