“Healthy Steps: Fayette County’s Walk Across Texas Commemorates America’s 250th Birthday”:

Fayette County’s Walk Across Texas event ended recently with 10 teams completing during the 8-week series. The 2026 theme for the program was “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday Through Walk Across Texas” with historic sites and parks highlighted in the weekly newsletters.
This activity program is designed to get friends, families, co-workers, and communities moving toward a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise for just 30 minutes daily can help reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and strokes.
Mileage from walking or other activities was recorded weekly by team members with the final mileage reported totaling 14,544.38 miles. The top 3 individual walkers were Debra Wolff - 474.8 miles, Jeffrey Kolenovsky - 456.26 miles, and Melanie Mica - 423.98 miles. Each of these top walkers were recognized for their accomplishments.
