Theft from Autos/Auto Thefts Offenses

Multiple reports of content thefts from vehicles and two auto thefts that occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, July 10, 2026 are under investigation by our officers.

Offenses occurred in the North Fourth Avenue, East and West Washington Streets, Washington Manor Subdivision, East Main Street, and Crystal Wash Drive areas.

Offenders appear to be seeking fi****ms, cash, and vehicle keys/fobs to facilitate vehicle thefts.

The LaGrange Police Department reminds all persons to keep vehicles locked and remove fi****ms, valuables, home/auto keys, and key fobs. In addition, remove garage door openers from vehicles parked outside overnight.

We are also asking anyone with home security video footage that may have captured the suspect(s) or suspicious vehicles during the night to contact us or email a copy or link of the footage to: [email protected]

As we approach the Memorial Day holiday, LaGrange Police Department is joining the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) in reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. The annual campaign is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) high-visibility enforcement effort.

According to KOHS and NHTSA, despite the low traffic volume, fatal crashes are three times higher nationwide at nighttime versus daytime. In Kentucky last year, of the, 423 were killed in motor vehicle crashes, and 49% of them (209) were either not wearing a seat belt or were not properly restrained in a car seat or booster seat. Four of the 423 deaths were children ages 9 and younger. One of the four was improperly restrained.

When worn correctly, seat belts reduce the risk of death by 45% for front-seat passenger vehicle occupants and by 60% for pickup truck, SUV and minivan occupants. Additionally, child seats are 71% effective in reducing infant deaths, 54% effective in reducing toddler deaths and 67% effective in reducing the need for hospitalization. For older children, the use of belt-positioning booster seats lowers the risk of injury to children in crashes by 59% compared with the use of vehicle seat belts.

ALWAYS REMEMBER

Police Officer Charles David Howley
Oldham County Police Department, Kentucky
End of Watch Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Police Officer Charles David Howley died one day after being exposed to refrigerant while searching a daycare center following reports of smoke in the building.

He had responded to the daycare center and began to search it to ensure all of the children and employees had exited the building. During the search he was exposed to a refrigerant that was being released into the air. He sought medical treatment after beginning to feel ill. He suffered a fatal heart attack the following day.

Officer Howley had served with the Oldham County Police Department for 20 years.
