CARS’ Annual Fall Benefit is coming up, and we’d love to have you along for the ride!
Join us for Cruisin’ for a Cause, a Route 66-inspired evening benefiting Community Assisted Rides and our mission to provide free transportation and connection to older adults throughout our community. 💙💚
Your ticket includes dinner, beer and wine, entertainment, a silent auction, paddle raise, balloon pop and more.

💙 We’re honored to be featured in the Chicago Tribune.
The story captures something we see every day at CARS: a ride is rarely just a ride.
For our VIPs, it can mean getting safely to a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store, or the bank — but it can also mean companionship, conversation, friendship, and the ability to continue living independently.
The article highlights longtime volunteer Jan Matheny, who has been driving with CARS for 20 years, and Anna, 87, who has relied on CARS for seven years. Anna summed up what makes the program so special beautifully: “CARS is extra special because of the driver — it’s like family members.”
Today, approximately 195 volunteers help serve about 475 VIPs throughout 22 communities, with CARS coordinating more than 100 rides during many weeks. And those rides remain free for the older adults we serve.
We’re incredibly thankful to the Chicago Tribune for sharing the people and relationships behind our mission — and to every volunteer, donor, partner, and VIP who makes this community what it is. 💚💙

💙 Meet Liam, our 2026 CARS Summer Intern!
This summer, Liam brought his curiosity, compassion, and willingness to learn to CARS—getting a firsthand look at how a nonprofit can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults. From listening to the stories of our VIPs and volunteers to helping strengthen resources for our team, his time with us was about much more than an internship—it was about connection, service, and community.
We’re grateful Liam chose to spend part of his summer with CARS, and we can’t wait to see where his journey takes him next. 💚
