We at OCPD are deeply saddened by the passing of Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369 of KSP Post 3. Our hearts and prayers are with Trooper Phillips’ loved ones, all of KSP, and law enforcement across the Commonwealth. Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice.

Today, we face one of the most difficult moments an agency can endure as we announce the loss of one of our own. Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while
patrolling I-65 in Warren County. He was assigned to Post 3 Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103. His dedication to duty and commitment to the commonwealth will not
be forgotten.
Our hearts break for Trooper Phillips’ family, loved ones, and fellow troopers as we grieve this tremendous loss. We will carry his memory with us, honor the life he lived and the badge he wore, and stand together as an agency to support this family in the days ahead.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. David Ingram on his graduation from the Academy of Police Supervision (APS) Class 108, held today in Richmond, KY.

APS is the foundational course in leadership development for sergeants and first-line supervisors. Throughout this program, Sgt. Ingram acquired invaluable skills in areas such as:

- Situational leadership
- Constitutional and administrative law
- Emotional and social intelligence
- Change management
- Ethical decision-making
- Problem-solving
- Emotional survival
- Public speaking

These skills are vital for his role as a supervisor. We prioritize ongoing training and professional development to ensure our personnel are well-equipped to serve the needs of Oldham County.

Last week, OCPD School Resource Officers engaged in an intensive three-day training program designed for the unique challenges of providing law enforcement services within a school setting. The training emphasized critical aspects of SRO operations, covering areas such as:

- Close-quarter tactics
- Tactical medicine
- Conflict resolution
- Active-aggressor response
- Effective communication
- De-escalation techniques
- Split-second decision-making

Officers were required to implement these concepts in realistic, dynamic scenarios where conditions could shift rapidly, necessitating constant assessment to determine the most appropriate response. All of our SROs demonstrated exceptional performance. This marks the first phase of a new training program, which will provide SROs with an additional 40 hours of training beyond state requirements. We take pride in having the most highly trained SROs in the state.

We extend our gratitude to the civilian role players who contributed to the success of this training. Wishing all our OC families, teachers, and staff an amazing, safe school year ahead!

We are sad to learn of the passing of former Chief Mike Griffin. He led our agency from 2003 to 2010, promoting growth and countless successes. Our hearts are with the Griffin family and we are forever grateful for the impact Chief Griffin had on Oldham County.

Fatal Collision - LaGrange, KY

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, at appx 11:05 pm, officers of the Oldham County Police Department were dispatched to an injury collision on northbound I-71 just north of the 22 / LaGrange on-ramp. A gray 2025 Toyota Corolla, operated by Parvina Shodieva, 34, of Waterloo, ON, rear ended a heavy wrecker which was on scene to assist a tractor cab on the shoulder.

Shodieva suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The wrecker operator was not injured. Assisting on scene were officers of the LaGrange Police Department, the Oldham County Coroner’s Office, LaGrange Fire and Rescue Department, Oldham County EMS, and the KY State Highway Department.

Oldham County Day 2026 was a success! A huge thank you to the Project Guild of La Grange for putting together such an incredible community tradition. We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and celebrating everything that makes Oldham County so special. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make this one of our favorite days of the year. We can't wait to do it again next year!
