We're hiring! Philosophy Temporary Lecturer Position - Winter and Spring Quarters 2026

The department of Philosophy at UC San Diego invites applications for a temporary lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in ethics, history of philosophy, or philosophy in general. This includes leading classes, assessment of student work, meeting with students outside of class in office hours and/or appointments if relevant, supervising teaching assistants, creating a syllabus, and maintaining a class web site on Canvas. The appointments may vary from part time to full time. Position is available starting winter quarter 2026 through spring quarter 2026.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Applicants must have a PhD in Philosophy or related field.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION

(http://philosophy.ucsd.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the history of philosophy at the Assistant Professor rank. The Department is especially interested in candidates with research and teaching competence in ancient or modern philosophy. Duties include active research, graduate supervision, classroom teaching at all levels, and service. The standard teaching load is four courses per year. The appointment is expected to begin 1 July 2022.
