Just a quick note to the community. I missed the first City Council meeting this month after getting sick, and I wasn’t able to attend today’s special meeting due to a scheduling conflict related to my small business.

I take my role on City Council seriously and stay informed on the issues. Thank you for the understanding and continued support.

Also, thank you to Brad Davidson and Todd Quick for coming out to answer questions regarding the intergovernmental agreement between La Junta and Rocky Ford. Best wishes to the La Junta Communications Department.

Honored to provide a legislative update to the LaJunta City Council. It’s vital to keep our local leaders informed on key policies and decisions impacting our communities.

The Kitchen of Kindness ❤️
Each Thursday evening, the Ark Valley Kitchen of Kindness serves not only a hot meal, but also compassion, fellowship, and dignity for those in need.
This volunteer-driven effort reflects the best of who we are as a community, neighbors caring for neighbors, sharing good food and genuine kindness.
Join them Thursdays from 5–7 PM at River of Life Church (5th & Santa Fe) to enjoy a meal, lend a hand, or simply connect. La Junta is stronger when we show up for one another. 🍽️✨

Good afternoon La Junta,

The City of La Junta is taking immediate steps to support food security for the families affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown. Food insecurity continues to impact many households in our area, and together, we can make a difference.

I have directed all city departments to assist and participate in a coordinated community food drive to assist local food banks, nonprofits, and charities.

Drop-Off Locations:
City Hall
Woodruff Memorial Library
Senior Center
Fire Department

All donations will be sent to Associated Charities for distribution. Please see their page for days and times for food pick up.

We encourage all residents, businesses, and community partners to join in by donating non-perishable food items such as shelf-stable milk, canned goods, rice, pasta, peanut butter, and boxed meals. Every donation counts.

Together, we can ensure that no family in La Junta goes hungry.

Sincerely,
Michael Hart
City Manager
