Meet another MDT Partner:

Detective Corporal Evelyn Kelemen.
I began my career in law enforcement in 2010, not knowing just how much this profession would shape the person I am today.
Eventually I was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division and nearly 10 years, I have dedicated my career to investigating crimes against children. This is more than just a job to me. It is a responsibility I carry with pride, compassion, and determination.
While working full time in law enforcement, I challenged myself to further my education, earning both my Associate's and Bachelor's degrees. As a bilingual investigator, I have also been able to bridge language barriers and help families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
When I investigate a crime against a child, I walk into that investigation with one purpose: to be the voice of a child who may not have the strength, courage, or ability to speak for themselves. Every child deserves to be heard, protected, and fought for.
Over the years, I have witnessed heartbreaking situations, but I have also witnessed incredible strength and resilience. These children are the reason I continue doing what I do, even on the hardest days.
One of my greatest accomplishments throughout my career has been the relationships I have built with so many incredible professionals who share one common goal: protecting children, advocating for their rights, and ensuring their voices are heard. I have learned that making a difference is never a one person effort. It takes teamwork, trust, dedication, and people who genuinely care about the children we serve.
My career has never been about a title, recognition, or accolades. It has been about making a difference, seeking justice, and standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

After 16 years in law enforcement, I am proud of the journey, the sacrifices, the education, the professional relationships I have built, and most importantly, the lives I have had the opportunity to impact.
I am Evelyn Kelemen, and being a voice for children is not just what I do. It is who I am. 💙

🚔 NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SEARCH WARRANT IN TEXAS CITY🚔

Following a narcotics investigation conducted by the La Marque Police Department’s Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU), members of the La Marque Police Department SRT (joint team with Santa Fe PD) and Texas City PD SWAT, executed a narcotics search warrant on October 9, 2026, at a residence in the 300 block of 5th Avenue North in Texas City.

During the ex*****on of the warrant, officers located and detained Christine Barbin, 53. A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of crack co***ne, weighing devices, items used in the production of crack co***ne, and packaging materials.

Barbin was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams, and booked into the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Jail with a bond set at $50,000.00.

The La Marque Police Department appreciates the collaboration and support of the Texas City Police Department and Santa Fe Police Department in this investigation. Through continued interagency partnerships and proactive enforcement efforts, we remain committed to addressing narcotics activity and protecting the safety of our communities.

🚔RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE🚔

During the September 28, 2026, La Marque City Council meeting, LMPD Chief Byron Frankland recognized Officer H. Hall, Officer H. Ellis, and Officer J. Vasquez with Community Life Saver Awards for their courageous actions that helped save lives.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of the hard work, training, dedication, and commitment our officers bring to the job every day. When someone’s life is on the line, our officers are expected to act quickly, remain composed, and rely on their training—and Officers Hall, Ellis, and Vasquez did exactly that.

Their actions represent what it means to serve with professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.

Please join us in congratulating Officers Hall, Ellis, and Vasquez on this well-deserved recognition and, more importantly, thank them for the work they do every day to protect and serve the La Marque community.

We are proud of our officers and the commitment they continue to demonstrate in service to others.

A huge THANK YOU to O’Fayes Beverage Lounge for having the La Marque Police Department out for Coffee with a Cop!

We had a great time connecting with our community, sharing conversations, and getting to know the people we proudly serve.

Thank you to all of our community members who came out to join us! Your support and willingness to connect with our officers mean so much to us. Building a safer, stronger community starts with building relationships. We are grateful for every opportunity to connect with the people we serve and look forward to continuing to build those relationships—one conversation, one cup of coffee, and one connection at a time.

These women don’t just wear the badge — they carry the responsibility that comes with it.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET | SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the La Marque Police Department honors the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remembers the brave first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.

In remembrance of those heroes, a couple of our LMPD officers completed the 9/11 Challenge, climbing 110 flights of stairs on the StairMaster to simulate the number of flights climbed by first responders inside the World Trade Center.

It was a small physical challenge compared to the unimaginable sacrifice made that day, but it served as a powerful reminder of the courage, strength, and determination displayed by our brothers and sisters in public safety.

We remember the fallen.
We honor the heroes.
We will never forget.
