La Mirada Public Safety

La Mirada Public Safety Residents interested in helping keep the City of La Mirada safe are encouraged to become involved in the Neighborhood Watch program.

Public Safety is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of programs and services designed to protect life and property while preserving the health, safety, and quality of life in the community. Law enforcement services are provided under a contract arrangement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. A Special Assignment Team proactively addresses gang, juvenile and narcot

ics activities. Community Resource Deputies assigned to La Mirada schools address juvenile and gang activities. General Patrol,Traffic Enforcement, and Detectives assist in gathering information and developing action plans necessary for resolving on-going crimes and nuisances. Fire protection is provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. La Mirada residents and businesses are also encouraged to work with Public Safety and get involved in its volunteer programs. La Mirada's volunteer programs include: Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, HAMWatch, Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER), and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime in the community. The Public Safety Team teaches volunteers techniques to protect themselves, their family and their community from crime. Crime prevention information can be found in the monthly La Mirada Living delivered to all residences and businesses in La Mirada.

Today, after many months of outreach, the La Mirada Homeless Outreach Liaison Team, in partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, successfully connected an unhoused woman with services. She has been placed in housing where she will receive addiction and mental health support. We thank all those involved who helped get her the resources and services she needs.
