⭐Congratulations! We’re proud to recognize Detective C. Gregory for receiving the prestigious 2026 Rod J. Rosenstein Award for Excellence in Collaboration Between Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement, presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

Detective Gregory, who is assigned to the Major Crimes Unit, played a key role in a complex, multi-jurisdictional investigation into a series of armed robberies across the DMV region. In these incidents, victims were robbed and carjacked at gunpoint, and tragically, a business owner was shot and killed in a nearby jurisdiction.

Through strong collaboration between federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, this case resulted in the successful prosecution and conviction of those responsible. This recognition highlights not only Detective Gregory’s dedication and professionalism, but also the power of teamwork in bringing justice to victims and their families.

We commend all agencies involved for their partnership and shared commitment to public safety. Congratulations, Detective Gregory, on this well-deserved honor⭐

💙🖤 Today, during National Police Week, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office held its Annual Memorial Wall Commemoration Ceremony — a solemn tradition dedicated to honoring the men and women who served our community with integrity, dedication, and honor.

Among those in attendance were Mrs. Gloria Minor, whose husband, Sgt. Tim Minor, was killed in the line of duty in 1996, and family members of M/SGT Ralph Nasatka.

The ceremony included opening and closing remarks by Captain Scott Grove, an invocation and benediction by Chaplain Steve Davis, presentation of the colors by the CCSO Honor Guard, and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Captain Chris Schmidt.
Sheriff Troy Berry offered heartfelt remarks to retirees, their families, and the families of our fallen officers. Major Joseph Pratta read the roll call of retirees whose names were added to the Memorial Wall this year.

Located outside CCSO Headquarters, the Memorial Wall serves as a lasting tribute to those who honorably served the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Charles County.

This year, we honored 17 retirees whose names were added to the wall in recognition of their dedicated service. We also remembered the seven members of our agency who were killed or died in the line of duty.

In addition, we paid tribute to two cherished members of our CCSO family who passed away last year: Maria Ammons and Master Sergeant Ralph Nasatka.

In a moving moment of remembrance, Sheriff Berry, the CCSO Honor Guard, and the family of Master Sergeant Nasatka placed a wreath at the Memorial Wall to honor all those we have lost. Their service, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten.
We are deeply grateful for their commitment and selfless service to our agency and community.
They will always be remembered.

⭐Please join us in congratulating Detective Abijeet Singh of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit for receiving recognition from the United States Attorney's Office for the District Court of Maryland for his outstanding collaborative work in the investigation and prosecution of a serial s*x offender. He, along with Charles County Assistant State's Attorney Tiffany Campbell, were presented awards by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes at the 2026 Project Safe Childhood Awards and Conference, recognizing individuals for their dedication and commitment to protecting children.

Detective Singh worked closely with allied law enforcement partners throughout the region in building a case against a man who was charged with s*xually assaulting teenage girls across Southern Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and Delaware. Investigators learned the suspect used v**e products containing THC to entice victims to meet him at various locations, where the assaults occurred.

Through his dedication, compassion, and investigative efforts, Detective Singh helped ensure a successful prosecution and to help ensure the offender was held accountable. His commitment to protecting victims and pursuing justice reflects the highest standards of our agency. We are proud of Detective Singh’s exceptional work and grateful for his continued dedication to serving our community.⭐

Today, at the start of National Police Week, members of our Honor Guard had the privilege of welcoming the families of fallen law enforcement officers from across the nation.

As the families arrived at Reagan National Airport on their way to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, our Honor Guard stood in formation to salute them with honor, dignity, and respect.

While this duty is a solemn one, it serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice made by those we have lost and the loved ones who continue to carry their memory forward. We stand with these families in remembrance and support.

💙🕊This week is National Police Week.🕯

Members of law enforcement, citizens, and survivors will unite throughout the week to honor the service of law officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Members of the CCSO Honor Guard were proud to honor officers, firefighters, and first responders during Blue Mass held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. They joined hundreds of first responders from across the country to reflect on the service of those who have served in law enforcement and public safety agencies and ask for their continued protection.

From those serving on the front lines to the families who support them, we say thank you. Your commitment to safety, justice, and service does not go unnoticed.
Let’s take a moment to reflect, appreciate, and remember those who have given everything in the line of duty.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE READ & DEFINITELY SHARE 🚨
Show you care and share! We want to make our community aware that we’ve seen an uptick in scam attempts. These scams are becoming more sophisticated, and many of them share the same warning signs. Think this only happens to the elderly? No. It happens to people from all backgrounds, ages, and professions and they occur more frequently than you think.

Below are some common red flags we’re seeing:

▶️Unexpected contact from someone claiming to be a bank, utility company, law enforcement, mortgage company, government agency, and more (via phone call, text message, email, or even a mailed letter) saying you must send money, transfer money, pay money, get gift cards, etc.

Caller has a calm, yet strong sense of urgency‼️Examples include:
➡️“If you don’t pay immediately, your power will be shut off.”
➡️“Your account is compromised.”
➡️“You will be charged or held in contempt.”
➡️“You must act now to avoid legal trouble.”

❎ Caller ID or text numbers that look legitimate
Scammers can spoof numbers to appear as if they’re coming from a real business or agency.

❎ Demands for money, gift cards, wire transfers, or account information. No legitimate agency will pressure you to send money on the spot

What to do if this happens to you:
Hang up. Do not respond. Do not click any links.

❎ Do NOT send money or provide account information.

Contact the organization directly using a phone number YOU already have on file (such as the number on your bank card, utility bill, or the official police department line).

✅Taking a moment to pause and verify can prevent you from becoming a victim.

Show you care and share! Let's try for 160k shares! Please share this post with your family and friends and remind each other of the importance of paying attention to whose calling and what they are asking for.

🏆The Charles County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division is proud to recognize Sergeant Andrew Hunt as the 2025 Officer of the Year.✨

Throughout the year, Sgt. Hunt demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and development of both staff and detainees. He played a key role in mentoring officers at all stages of their careers and creating and leading realistic training scenarios to prepare them for real-life challenges.

In addition to his daily responsibilities, Sgt. Hunt was instrumental in planning and executing Emergency Response Team (ERT) training, developing scenario-based exercises focused on low-frequency, high-risk events and helping acquire new equipment to enhance team readiness. His hands-on approach included fire drills using artificial smoke and simulated victims requiring rescue, as well as open mat training to strengthen defensive tactics skills.

His leadership and quick thinking were critical during a January 23, 2025 incident involving a fire inside a police cruiser. Sgt. Hunt immediately entered the smoke-filled vehicle, safely removed the arrestee, and coordinated assisting officers—actions that earned him both an agency Certificate of Commendation and national recognition from the American Jail Association with a Valor Award.

Sgt. Hunt is also known for his ability to de-escalate tense situations, particularly those involving behavioral health crises, ensuring safe outcomes while avoiding the need for force whenever possible. He consistently goes above and beyond, often adjusting his schedule and sacrificing personal time to support the mission and his fellow officers.

His dedication, leadership, and impact on the Corrections Division truly reflect the highest standards of service. Sgt. Hunt was presented with flag box that was custom made by fellow members of the CCSO and contained the actual flag that hung over the Detention Center for the year of 2025.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Hunt on this well-deserved recognition!🎉
