‼️⚠️Thunderstorms develop late this afternoon/evening. Some may be severe.
⚠️All severe weather hazards will be possible including large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes. Locally heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding is also possible.
⚠️Thunderstorms are likely to weaken by early Wednesday morning, but a second round of weaker severe thunderstorms may move into southern MO after midnight from the southwest.
✅Follow your local forecast for updates on the severity and timing of the system.
✅Have several ways of receiving warnings in case one fails.
✅Always know where you would shelter in the event of a storm - a mobile home is NOT safe during a tornado OR a severe thunderstorm!

The LCFPD is excited to announce the addition of a custom built table to the fire station! This table was generously built by Marshall Custom Woodworks at no cost. The LCFPD Logo was printed and donated from a community member as well! LCFPD Firefighters spent many hours sanding, staining, painting, and sealing the table. We would like to thank everyone who donated their time, skills, and expertise into making this project possible. This table was built at little to no cost thanks to the generous donations from various community members, local businesses, and dedicated volunteers.

‼️⚠️Red Flag Warning now in effect for northern half of MO from noon to 6 pm - Watch was upgraded to Warning and expanded into Central and East-Central Missouri by NWS!
⚠️The combination of low humidity, gusty southwesterly winds, and dry
vegetation will support dangerous fire spread.
⚠️Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged in the warning area. Make sure all fires are fully extinguished, and monitor recent burns for redevelopment.

The LCFPD applied for and received the MFA Incorporated Volunteer Fire Department Grant of $2,000. Firefighters who attended Missouri Winter Fire School were able to attend the check presentation ceremony during the Fire Expo. These funds will be used to purchase water rescue equipment, expanding our water rescue and ice rescue capabilities. The LCFPD is always searching for grant opportunities to ease our taxpayers.

The MFA Oil Foundation has awarded a grant to the La Plata Community Fire Protection District to assist with purchasing rope rescue equipment. Rope rescue equipment can be used for a variety of incidents. Including grain bin rescue and extrication of victims from low and high angles. This upgraded equipment will improve our services to our community by ensuring we have up to date, safe, and reliable equipment so we can continue providing the best possible services to our citizens, neighbors, and visitors. We would like to thank the MFA Oil Foundation for their support of nonprofit organizations that are working to improve communities. The LCFPD is committed to finding alternative ways to improve and purchase equipment by ensuring we seek all grant opportunities. We would also like to thank Captain Aaron Pippin, who writes and submits multiple grants for the district throughout the year.

“The MFA Oil Foundation is a great asset to MFA Oil Company and the areas we serve. Supporting organizations commited to improving communities and the quality of life goes hand in hand with our cooperative principles of giving back” says MFA Oil Foundation Chairman, James Greer.
