On this 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on our nation, MISSION BBQ held a memorial service honoring police, fire, and emergency medical service personnel from all over Charles County. Captain Robert Bagley and Sergeant Kalen Kerere represented the La Plata Police Department at the event. We would like to extend our appreciation to Mission BBQ for hosting the event and all of the area first responders who attended. May we never forget the sacrifices paid by so many first responders on 09/11/01.

25 Years Later, We Remember

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in the attacks on our nation. We honor the courage and sacrifice of the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who responded with extraordinary bravery.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the victims, honor the heroes, and stand united as a nation. May we never forget the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the strength and resilience displayed in the days that followed.

🚨 La Plata Police Department Employment Opportunity- Police Cadet (Full-time)🚨

Starting Pay - $35,920 annually.

To be considered for the cadet position the applicant must meet the following initial requirements for employment:
• Pass the police officer entrance written examination
• Pass the physical agility test
• Undergo an extensive background investigation
• Undergo polygraph examination
To be a cadet, the applicant must be between the ages of 17 and 19 at the time of application. Applicants may not be appointed until they are 18 years of age. A cadet may enter the police academy at age 20 1/2, provided he/she will reach their 21st birthday prior to graduation.
To be considered for entrance into the police academy, a cadet must successfully fulfill the obligations required of all police officer applicants, which include:
• Physical agility test, to include the trigger pull component
• An oral board interview
• Updated background investigation, which will include the validation that the applicant meets all the requirements for Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions certification
• Polygraph examination
• Psychological evaluation
• Physical examination, to include a drug screening
