What will you find at the LaSalle Canal Market? – An open
air art and farmers market that is nestled near the historic
IM canal and downtown LaSalle. The LaSalle Canal Market will
run every 4th Saturday of the month from May until
September. It offers unique vendors and you will find a
fresh bounty of fruit and veggies, bouquets of flowers, one
of a kind items such as jewelry, art, crafts, clothin
g and
more, some meat and cheese vendors, baked goods, music and
more. It is a meeting place for the community, where you can
shop at your leisure. Plus, you will get that personal
one-to-one interaction with the vendors and see the same
people at your favorite booths week after week. There is no
admission charge, so bring the whole family and friendly
pets are also welcome. Be sure to visit our downtown area. Enjoy browsing our
unique shops and then have lunch at one of our many downtown
dining establishments. You can even take our self guided
Architecture Tour. We also boast a Phantom Gallery run by North Central
Illinois ARTworks and Stage 212 a community theater both
housed near the market. And while you’re in town, make
sure to stop by the stately Hegeler Carus Mansion, an 18th
century Victorian home and a recipient of the National
Historic Landmark award. Don’t miss the beautiful Lock 16 Visitor’s Center, a
restored vintage commercial building that houses a cozy
café and gift shop. You can get your ticket there for a
ride down the Illinois & Michigan Canal. Step back in
time as you are pulled by mules, Moe and Larry on a slow and
lazy ride in the canal boat. And, when you are finished with your ride, hop in your car and visit Starved Rock and Matthesson
Park. If you are interested in securing a booth at the 2012
LaSalle Canal Market, please contact Market Supervisor
Francie Skoflanc at (815)223-1389 or via email at [email protected] The Canal Market is sponsored in part by LaSalle State Bank & the city of LaSalle. Like us on our page!
