Shout out to the Wilson County Library! They delivered a dozen pretty ingenious face masks to D1. These allow us to extend the life of our N95 masks by cutting the current disposable masks into 4 smaller pieces and fitting them into this plastic mask. They made these with their 3D printer. Thank you all so much for thinking of us!!!

Covid 19 update 3/27/2020:

The latest report from DSHS for our region still indicates only 2 positive cases from Wilson County. We believe one is in the hospital in another county and it is travel related. The second is home here in the county and under quarantine. To protect patient privacy we will only be notified of confirmed cases and we will get very limited information on those patients. We understand DSHS is monitoring anyone under quarantine and at home. While the lack of information is frustrating for those of us on the front lines we understand the need for privacy.

These are trying times for us all. We ask that we all become good neighbors. Call your friends and the elderly and check on them. Drop off a meal to someone who is sick. Most of all please stay home and do what you can to isolate.

If you feel sick with a cough, fever or sore throat please call your doctor. Don’t go to the ER, doctors office or the minor emergency clinic. Your doctor will then let you know how to proceed.

District 1 is well prepared for this. We are in constant contact with DSHS, STRAC and other partners. We are working closely with District 3 EMS on our first responder policies.

Finally, our stations are stocked so please don’t use your precious supplies to help us. We all shop at the same stores and source from the same online retailers. We know supplies are short. While we greatly appreciate the thought we are fine and want you to be fine as well. We are rationing supplies just like everyone else. We are all in this together.

God bless,

Chris Thompson
Fire Chief

COVID 19 update:

There are no known or suspected cases in Wilson County. District 1 Fire is working closely with District 3 EMS and STRAC to monitor the virus.

The precautions for Covid-19 are the same for the flu. Washing your hands and covering your mouth if you cough or sneeze. Avoid going into public if you are sick.

If you think, for any reason, you may have a viral infection please call your doctor before going to see him/her. They will give you directions on how to proceed.

According to Johns Hopkins there are less than 1300 cases in the entire US. They also report less than 40 deaths. Most of the deaths are in the elderly population with underlying medical conditions.

The phone issue in the county has been resolved.

03/02/2020

We are aware of phone issues and 911 issues. The problems seem to be with POTS land lines. Cell Phones and internet based lines seem to be working.

This issue is on the phone company side. Wilson County EOC is working to get more information as this is a County wide outrage.
