Did you know? We have 40 volunteer firefighters protecting 2,700 square miles — the largest response area of any fire department in Colorado. From remote mountain roads to town neighborhoods, our volunteers show up day and night, in every kind of weather, without pay. Behind every call is a neighbor who chose to serve and we couldn't be prouder to have them.

As we head into the Labor Day Weekend, please remember to recreate responsibly.

The Pike and San Isabel National Forests are currently in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. This means campfires are only allowed in developed recreation sites that have a metal Forest Service fire ring.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan Outreach Meeting: September 9th 5:00-7:00 PM at the Walsenburg Community Center 928 Russell Ave.

Join The Ember Alliance and the Huerfano County Office of Emergency Management for the final outreach meeting for the Huerfano County Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Get a chance to look at elements of the plan, talk with the plan writers and learn about the upcoming review copy and public comment period.
