📦 Recycling Update: Cardboard Bins are Full 📦
Attention residents,

Please be advised that the cardboard recycling bins are currently at capacity. We kindly ask that you hold onto your cardboard at home for the time being rather than leaving it outside the bins.

The bins may not be emptied for some time as the recycling association is down a driver for the truck.

Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep our recycling area clean and manageable!

Construction Update: Town's Railroad Park Playground 🚧
Exciting changes are coming to the Town's Railroad Park! You will notice that safety barriers have now been placed around the playground area.
Our team is moving quickly, and dirt work along with concrete pouring will begin this week and continue into next week. For your safety and the safety of our construction crews, please stay strictly outside of the fenced barriers at all times. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to build a better, safer play space for our community! 😊👶🔨

The Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers with Colorado State Patrol is on scene on Colorado Highway 12 Mile Marker 6 for a rollover vehicle accident that is partially blocking. The highway has been shut down to allow the vehicle to be safely removed. This shut down can last approximately 30 minutes. Please use alternative routes.

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR OUR TOWN! 🥳 Playground update loading... 🏗️✨

We are thrilled to announce that the Town has officially received a Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) grant! This grant completes our funding for the brand-new town playground! 🌳🛝

Because of this exciting milestone, the park will be under construction starting today for the next several weeks while crews prepare the site and install the new equipment.

🚧 Important Park Details:
Construction Zone: Please keep a safe distance from active work areas and machinery.

Safety First: Make sure to remind kids and little ones to stay outside fenced or marked construction zones.

Timeline: Work is beginning immediately and will continue over the coming weeks as we get everything prepped and installed.

A huge thank you to Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), La Veta Trails, La Veta Regional Library District, The Grant Foundation, El Pomar Foundation, San Isabel Electric Association, and everyone in our community who supported this project to help make it a reality!

We appreciate your patience while the park is under construction for improvements. The Park will remain open for use just stay out of the construction area! Stay tuned to our page for progress photos and details on our upcoming progress! 🎈📸

We are busy preparing for the Ute Bear Dance ceremony at La Veta's Francisco Fort Museum next week (Saturday, July 18)! Anyone with a rake and an hour to kill is invited to gather at the museum gift shop tomorrow (Wednesday 7/08) at 5pm to help remove leaves and twigs from the quad. Please join us for some gentle yard work to the peaceful tune of birdsong in the cool of a lovely La Veta summer evening. Thank you!
