Executive Director’s Letter
January 2025
Dear Esteemed Members, Partners, and Friends of Akutnom de Jieng, Inc.,
It is with profound honor and heartfelt commitment that I present to you the Akutnom de Jieng, Inc. Strategic Plan for 2025–2030. This document represents more than a roadmap; it is a testament to the resilience, heritage, and aspirations of the Jieng-speaking community in the United States and beyond.
Since our founding in 2008, Akutnom de Jieng has remained steadfast in its mission to champion language inclusivity, educational empowerment, and cultural enrichment. In the face of diaspora dislocation and language erosion, we have sought to illuminate pathways for Jieng speakers, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and economically while preserving the rich legacy of our people.
This plan reflects a bold yet attainable vision: one in which our community not only preserves its linguistic and cultural identity but actively participates in shaping a multilingual, multicultural society. Through literacy programs, digital innovations, cultural festivals, and accessible educational resources, we affirm our enduring commitment to serving current and future generations.
I extend my deepest gratitude to our board members, advisors, community leaders, and volunteers whose wisdom, labor, and dedication have made this vision possible. Together, we build a future of hope, dignity, and shared purpose.
Let us proceed — one word, one learner, and one generation at a time.
Sincerely,
James Aguto
