LP Co Missing Person Alert: URGENT 09-30-25 Kingsford Heights area. A 67 YOA Female, Maria Edwards, was last seen in the Kingsford Height area possibly wearing blue athletic shoes and blue zip up hoodie, wearing glasses brown hair. Last seen on 9/29/2025. She has diminished mental capacity and is in need of medical attention. If seen, contact LP Co Sheriff at 219-362-6205.

morning. Visibility one quarter to one half mile in dense fog.

* IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

LP Co Alert: Per La Porte County EMA: Air Quality Alert due to brush fire smoke in La Porte. Heavy smoke may reduce visibility and cause health issues, especially for sensitive groups. Limit outdoor activities, keep windows closed, and use clean indoor air if possible until conditions improve.

Flood Advisory issued August 19 at 5:42AM EDT until August 19 at 9:45AM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northern Indiana, including
the following counties, in north central Indiana, St. Joseph. In
northern Indiana, La Porte.

* WHEN...Until 945 AM EDT /845 AM CDT/.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 540 AM EDT /440 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy
rain due to thunderstorms. Thunderstorms this morning will
affect areas that have already received heavy rainfall over
the past 24 hours. Minor flooding is expected this morning.
Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen since yesterday
afternoon.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Bend, Mishawaka, Michigan City, La Porte, Westville,
Georgetown, Trail Creek, Gulivoire Park, New Carlisle, Long
Beach, Roseland, Pottawattamie Park, Michiana Shores,

rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, including the following
counties, St. Joseph and La Porte.

* WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT /100 AM CDT/.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1036 PM EDT /936 PM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy
rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small
stream flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Bend, Michigan City, La Porte, Westville, Georgetown,
Trail Creek, Gulivoire Park, North Liberty, New Carlisle,
Long Beach, Lakeville, Roseland, Pottawattamie Park, Michiana

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 101 expected. Locally, heat indices
may reach 104 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and
northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From noon EDT /11 AM CDT/ today to 9 PM EDT /8 PM CDT/ this
evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

* Until 545 PM EDT/445 PM CDT/.

* At 511 PM EDT/411 PM CDT/, severe thunderstorms were located along
a line extending from 17 miles northwest of Shorewood-Tower Hill to
near Long Beach, moving east at 70 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
South Bend, Michigan City, Niles, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph,
Buchanan, Trail Creek, Fair Plain, Benton Heights, Bridgman, New
Buffalo, New Carlisle, Berrien Springs, Three Oaks, Long Beach,
Stevensville, Roseland, Pottawattamie Park, Shorewood-Tower Hill,
and Shorewood-Tower Hills-Harbert.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 50 and 51, and between
mile markers 53 and 77.
