📖

Last week, patrol officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call at Long Lake Park. Upon arrival, they spoke with several witnesses who saw a couple arguing and physically fighting. Realizing that they had drawn the attention of other people enjoying the park, the pair walked off to another area. Another witness nearby said the male had told him he had a gun and threatened to use it. The witness suspected the pair had gone toward the tree line where they were either hiding or retrieving the weapon.

A K9 from arrived to do an article search for the firearm likely hidden where the suspects were contacted. Wouldn’t you know it? They found one! 😳 The female was booked into jail for DV assault and DV malicious mischief. The male was booked in to jail for felony harassment with threats to kill while armed, unlawful possession of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm 🚓🚓🚓

Great job to patrol and thank you to Olympia PD for their K9 assist and to the witnesses who helped!

Another successful Relay for Life this past weekend at North Thurston High School! 💜 Thurston County Relay for Life supports and remembers those with cancer diagnoses, their caregivers, and those we have lost to this disease. Funds that are raised both at the Relay and at pre-events support the American Cancer Society’s research for a cure as well as helping local community members navigate treatment options. Mayor Andy Ryder was the keynote speaker this year and spoke about his personal cancer journey. Chief Almada and his family have been enthusiastic supporters of Relay For Life and The American Cancer Society for several years, and he was honored to recognize cancer survivors with medals during the Survivors Lap, as well as to walk with fellow first responders during the Hometown Heroes Lap 🚓🚓 Our Thurston County community members have made our Relay for Life Event one of the top five in the country through their generous donations of time, talent, and monetary contributions! 🤗

Our lobby and front office are closed today in observance of Juneteenth. If you have an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergency, call (360) 704-2740. Be safe, Lacey!

Today, Friday, June 19, the City of Lacey offices are closed in celebration of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States—when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. This federal holiday reminds us of the profound journey towards collective freedom.

We wish everyone a day filled with reflection, education, and celebration.

Today members of our department attended a ceremony for the unveiling of the Deven & Alexander Borgen memorial street sign. Deven & Alexander were two teenage brothers who were tragically shot and killed while walking home in November 2025. Our department worked tirelessly to arrest both suspects in the murders, who are currently awaiting trial. We were honored to attend the ceremony in support of the victims family and friends, and our hearts continue to be with them as they move forward.

On June 12th, 2026, School Resource Officer Howard had the honor of serving as the keynote speaker at the Wa He Lut Indian School graduation ceremony. The school celebrated graduates from kindergarten through eighth grade, recognizing each student with an award and providing special recognition to the eighth-grade class.

As part of the ceremony, each graduate delivered a speech in their native language, introducing their family and sharing where they will attend high school next year. In a meaningful tradition, family members dressed each graduate in a traditional robe before the gathering to honor their achievement.

Several of the graduating students will be attending NTPS schools in the fall. In appreciation for his participation, Director of Education Willie Frank III presented Officer Howard with a handmade quilt as a token of gratitude. 🤗🚓
