⚠️ Nitazenes are a highly potent group of synthetic opioids that can cause severe respiratory depression and fatal overdoses.

📢 Dr. Tape emphasizes that opioid overdoses can result in respiratory depression, causing an individual to stop breathing. Narcan (Naloxone) can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and restore breathing; however, multiple doses may be necessary. If an overdose is suspected, call 911 immediately and administer Narcan if available.

📣FREE NARCAN (Naloxone) AVAILABLE
Please contact our office at (985) 781-1150 for more information.

Nitazene is more difficult to detect than fentanyl and other illegal substances, officials said.

🚨 Safety Message 🚨

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office would like to share an important safety message regarding co-sleeping.

Every year in Louisiana, babies tragically lose their lives while sleeping in the same bed as an adult. These deaths are heartbreaking and, in many cases, preventable.

Babies should always sleep alone, on their backs, in a safety approved crib, bassinet, or Pack 'n Play with a firm mattress.

📣 A safe sleeping environment can save a life.

🌊 May is Water Safety Month 🌊

As temperatures rise and more families head to pools, lakes, rivers, and beaches, the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office encourages everyone to make water safety a priority.

🚨 Drowning can happen quickly and silently, but many tragedies are preventable.
Here are a few important reminders:
✅ Never leave children unattended near water
✅ Designate a “Water Watcher” when swimming
✅ Wear properly fitted life jackets while boating or enjoying open water
✅ Avoid alcohol while swimming or operating watercraft
✅ Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills
✅ Teach children to swim early and educate them about water hazards

💙 Whether you are enjoying time at the pool, on the lake, or along the Gulf Coast, taking simple precautions can save lives.
