This week, members of the Lacy Lakeview Police Department participated in the 2026 Waco Station Functional Initial Response Exercise at Texas State Technical College in Waco.

Conducted by ExxonMobil Pipeline and The Response Group (TRG), this scenario-based exercise gave public safety and emergency response partners an opportunity to practice the communication, coordination, and decision-making needed during the initial response to a simulated pipeline emergency.

Training alongside our partners strengthens working relationships and helps ensure a more coordinated response when it matters most.

We appreciate ExxonMobil Pipeline, TRG, TSTC, and every participating agency for the opportunity to train together and strengthen regional preparedness.

Justice Served

The Lacy Lakeview Police Department would like to commend our Criminal Investigations Division detectives and the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office for their dedication and professionalism in securing a guilty verdict in this heartbreaking Injury to a Child case.

Cases involving crimes against children are among the most difficult to investigate and prosecute. We are grateful for the tireless work of everyone involved to ensure justice was served and to hold the offender accountable.

Thank you to our detectives, the Waco Advocacy Center, and Assistant District Attorneys Will Hix and Maddie Beach for their commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.

While the law authorizes adults to reasonably discipline children, this Defendant repeatedly struck these kids all over their bodies, including in their faces and heads, causing serious injury to a two year old.

This behavior was simply child abuse, and nothing more.

We are so grateful that all the children have physically recovered, are away from this Defendant, and are in loving households, and thriving.

The Lacy Lakeview Police Department is proud to welcome Officer Hope De La Rosa to our team!

Officer De La Rosa began her law enforcement career after graduating from Central Texas College in 2022, where she earned her Basic Peace Officer License. Since then, she has continued serving her community while gaining valuable experience in the law enforcement profession, including prior service working in a correctional facility.

She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Homeland Security from Texas A&M University–Central Texas. Originally from Bell County, Officer De La Rosa brings a strong educational background, valuable experience, and a genuine passion for public service to our department.

We are excited to have Officer De La Rosa join the Lacy Lakeview Police Department family and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our community.

Operation Slowdown has come to an end, but safe driving never takes a day off.

Throughout this campaign, our goal was education first by reminding drivers that slowing down, eliminating distractions, and making safe choices behind the wheel save lives. Thank you to everyone who helped make our roads safer by doing their part.

Please continue to obey speed limits, stay alert, and help protect everyone who travels our roadways. Together, we can make every trip a safe one!

⚠️ Public Assistance Needed ⚠️

Good morning, Lacy Lakeview!

Over the past week, our city has experienced a significant increase in acts of vandalism and graffiti targeting public property. This includes extensive damage to Veteran’s Memorial Park, Live Oak Park, and the park restroom facilities.

Our officers are actively investigating these incidents, and we are asking for your help. If you witnessed any suspicious activity or have information that could assist in identifying those responsible, please contact the Lacy Lakeview Police Department. Even what may seem like a small detail could be valuable to the investigation.

Unfortunately, due to the repeated damage and rising cost of repairs, the difficult decision has been made to close all park restroom facilities until further notice.

This was not a decision made lightly. We want our residents and visitors to enjoy our parks and all of the amenities they offer. However, the ongoing vandalism has become both costly to taxpayers and disruptive to everyone who uses these spaces respectfully. Our parks belong to the entire community. Every dollar spent repairing intentional damage is a dollar that cannot be used to improve our parks, streets, and other city services.
