๐Ÿ“ฑ Reminder: Revised Cell Phone Policy
When students return to Ladysmith Middle School and High School tomorrow, they will find that there is a change to our cell phone policy.
Beginning this school year, students will be required to store their cell phones in their lockers for the entire school day, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.
Both Ladysmith Middle and High School are 1:1 schools with Chromebooks, so students have the technology they need for learning. At Ladysmith Schools, we have found that cell phones and other personal electronic devices do not always serve a helpful academic purpose and can be a significant distraction during the school day.
There are exceptions to the policy, particularly for students who need a personal electronic device for medical purposes.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Cell phones will still be permitted during after-school activities and on school transportation, but they may not be used in restrooms or locker rooms.
This policy change comes as a result of Wisconsin's Act 42, which addresses the use of personal electronic devices in schools.
We appreciate the cooperation of our students and families as we make this transition and work together to create focused, healthy and positive learning environments for all of our Lumberjacks!๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

Back to School. Watch for Buses! ๐ŸšŒ

School starts Tuesday, September 1st, and that means our buses will be back on the road! ๐ŸŽ’ As you're out and about, please remember to watch for school buses in your neighborhood and slow down when lights are flashing. ๐Ÿšฆ

A few quick reminders as we get back into the routine:
๐Ÿ›‘ Stop for buses with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, from both directions on undivided roads
๐Ÿ‘€ Watch for kids walking to bus stops, especially in low-light morning hours
โฑ๏ธ Give buses extra space and time to load and unload

Let's all do our part to keep our students safe as we head back to school. We can't wait to see everyone on September 1st! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› Welcoming Our New Teachers! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

We enjoyed welcoming our new teachers to the School District of Ladysmith last week! During their two-day orientation, they had the chance to meet their mentors, spend time with various staff members, receive ALICE training from Sheriff Grassman, and take a tour of the district.

Thank you to everyone who helped welcome our new teachers to the district, and an extra-big thank you to McDonald's of Ladysmith for providing and Ladysmith Family Restaurant for providing lunch! We loved showing the new teachers what a supportive community we have! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽMeet Morgan Lisowe, 7th Grade ELA, Ladysmith Middle School!๐ŸŽ

Please join us in welcoming Morgan Lisowe to the School District of Ladysmith! Morgan will be teaching 7th grade ELA at Ladysmith Middle School, bringing with her 8 years of teaching experience.

Morgan grew up in Gillett, WI (about 45 minutes north of Green Bay) with her three siblings, and earned her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Human Development from UW-Green Bay. Outside the classroom, she loves building botanical LEGOs, spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes, and collecting coins.

Morgan became an educator to make a difference in students' lives, she wants every student to reach their fullest potential and find success in whatever path they choose. This year, she's excited to share her love of reading and help her students fall in love with it too.

Welcome to the Lumberjack family, Morgan! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽ No Need to Pac-Man Your Lunch . . . School Lunch (and Breakfast) is FREE! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Our LES kitchen staff put together this awesome Pac-Man themed bulletin board to help spread the word: there's no need to Pac-Man your lunch, school lunch (and breakfast) is FREE again for all students this year!

As the school year approaches, we want to remind all families of this great news, and we can't wait to see all the new and familiar faces on our first day back!

Thank you to our amazing kitchen staff for their creativity and for taking such great care of our students. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›
