Quality Public Schools
– support fair state aid to rural and inner city schools
– oppose private charter schools draining tax dollars from K-12 public schools

Protecting the Environment
– support measures to protect clean air

and water
– oppose industry-written mining laws and regulations

Worker’s Rights
– support living wage, increasing minimum wage, equal pay, and union rights

Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid
– support revisions necessary to preserve these programs
– oppose unnecessary cuts and attempts to privatize these programs

Voting Rights
– support on-line registration and easing of early voting rules
– oppose voter ID and other voter suppressing laws and tactics

Fair Taxation
– support closing loopholes and increasing taxes on corporations and the very rich
– oppose shifting taxes from income taxes to sales and property taxes

Honest Government
– support re-districting reform to eliminate gerrymandering
– oppose Citizen’s United and secrecy in campaign financing

Affordable Health Care
– support full implementation of Affordable Care Act

National Security
– support veterans’ programs and the development of sustainable energy
– oppose NSA spying on US citizens and unnecessary wars and military action

Constitutional Rights
– support reasonable restrictions on right to bear arms and right to privacy (abortion)
– oppose unreasonable restrictions on these rights

Safety Net
– support full funding of food stamps and extension of unemployment benefits

I saw a video last week in which Speaker Johnson was asked about Members of Congress being able to play the stock market even when they have insider information that no other Americans have access to.

He replied with this: “I have some sympathy. At least let them engage in some stock trading so they can continue to take care of their family.”

You should know that congresspeople make 170 thousand bucks per year. If I made 174K in a year I would think I had died and gone to heaven. I would have enough money so I wouldn't have to work AT ALL for about 4 years. Take care of their family?!? On TOP of that 174 K per year they get a good medical care plan, vested in a good retirement plan after 5 years.

Sympathy. Interesting. Do you know what Donald Trump said that very same week, when asked if he was considering the financial strain the Iran War has put on American families? “Not even a little bit.”.

Even before MAGA, Republicans were always insisting the US is a republic and not a democray. Some people slept through class and only understand cute sound bites.

Keep informing them that a republic is a democracy with guard rails, and their hero is constantly attacking these guard rails.
Maybe they'll understand a graphic instead.
