It's National Su***de Prevention Month.

Su***de and mental health are so stigmatized that the people suffering feel that they can't reach out for help.

Just sitting down and talking to friends or family members who might be going through a difficult time could help prevent devastating outcomes.

Tippecanoe County has resources to help if you or a loved one are experiencing suicidal ideations or a mental health crisis.
• The 988 su***de and crisis line is a free option that's available 24/7. You can call or text to talk to someone.
• 988 also offers support for veterans and their loved ones by pressing 1 after dialing (https://www.veteranscrisisline.net)
• Valley Oaks offers a Haven Crisis Response Center (https://www.valleyoaks.org/haven-crisis-response-center)
• The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has resources on their website (https://nami-wci.org)

Dealing with the aftermath of su***de can also be difficult for family and friends. There are bereavement resources and support groups for individuals struggling with the loss of their loved one.
• The Su***de Awareness Voices of Education has information on their website for su***de loss survivors (https://www.save.org/programs/su***de-loss-support)
The American Foundation for Su***de Prevention also has support resources (https://afsp.org/chapter/indiana)
