If you are have applied for TN Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) Beginning Farmers option, this class will be the certification you need to get your reimbursement.

The University of Tennessee Extension has revamped its Farming Fundamentals online course to help new and beginning farmers build successful agricultural businesses. The self-paced program covers essential topics such as business planning, marketing, budgeting, recordkeeping, financial management, and risk management, with instruction from UT Extension specialists, industry professionals, and experienced Tennessee producers.

The approximately 12-hour course costs $150 and includes one year of access to course materials. Completing the course also satisfies the educational requirement for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) Beginning Farmer cost-share program.

The first homeschool meeting will be held on Monday, October 19 from 10:00-10:45am in the Macon County Extension Conference Room.

4-H is the largest youth organization and will help students gain many life skills such as communication, responsibility, decision making, and achieving goals through monthly club meetings/activities, hands on activities, judging teams, and showing livestock.
The first meeting will be an introduction to 4-H with basic information, enrollment, and handbooks will be given out.

Please share with any homeschool students that would like to join 4-H.

🍀National 4-H Week is in full swing in Macon County! 🍀

4-H members met with Mayor Rick Shoulders to sign National 4-H Week Proclamation. They shared the skills gained from participating in project groups, judging teams, and 4-H activities. We are thankful to have the support of the mayor, commissioners, and community members.

Tennessee farmers, mark your calendars! The Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) application period is October 1–7, 2026.

TAEP provides cost-share opportunities to help Tennessee farmers improve their operations, invest in equipment, and strengthen their agricultural businesses.

Updates for the 2026-27 program year include:

• Reduced minimum requirements for certain sectors
• A new Livestock Fencing program for livestock producers
• A name change from Livestock Solutions to Farming Solutions
