Good morning Tippecanoe County family. Once again, we come to you for your help.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating a white Ram quad cab equipped with blackout package involved in a hit-and-run crash in the 9100-blk of Tyler Rd on August 26, 2026 at 3:31 PM. The suspect vehicle struck a motorcyclist, seriously injuring the rider and then fled the scene before first responders arrived. The RAM should have moderate damage to the front bumper with a majority of the damage on the passenger side. There could also be minor damage near the passenger rear tire area.

Today Tippecanoe County EMA participated in a test for Boiler Gold Rush in activation of the Purdue Campus portion of the Outdoor Warning System.

This is a normal test the EMA and Purdue conduct annually and normally without any issues. However, during this test programing issues were found and warning sirens that are not part of the Purdue Zone were activated in other portions of the county.

We are addressing these programing issues and taking corrective actions. We apologize for the confusion to those outside of the Purdue Campus.

Lafayette Special Operations Deploys Personnel to Support Water Rescue and Evacuation Operations throughout Indiana

LAFAYETTE, INDIANA August 14, 2026 (LFD) was requested by the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) this morning to assist with ongoing water rescue and evacuation operations in the Anderson area.

As of 7:25 a.m., LFD has deployed six personnel, led by Assistant Chief of Special Operations Cody Roby, to support the ongoing emergency response. LFD personnel are working alongside three members of the West Lafayette Fire Department and two representatives from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Each participating agency has deployed personnel and response assets to assist with water rescue, evacuation, and other operational needs as the situation continues to develop.

Local 472 would like to thank all personnel who responded to the request for assistance on short notice, as well as the members remaining in Lafayette to continue providing emergency services and supporting our community during this deployment.

With the recent rainfall in the area and the water coming from up north this is a reminder to avoid flooded roadways. Remember to never drive through moving water. It only takes 18 inches of water to float an SUV and as little as 6 inches can cause cars to stall. Remember turn around don't drown. If you live in an area that you know is prone to flooding take precautions and leave before it becomes an emergency. If you need us call us.

Hello Facebook family. We are reaching out to you for some help. We have some people that have decided that taking what others have worked hard for is easier than working for what they want themselves.

Last week, we received a few reports about items being taken from vehicles in the area of Mason Dixon Drive and Ellison Drive in West Lafayette. In another report, someone attempted to steal a vehicle from Campus Suites Blvd in West Lafayette. Detectives and Deputies are asking for your help in identifying the person below which I know is difficult because of the face being covered. But, you can reach out if you witnessed any suspicious activity in those areas at the beginning of August or have any other information you feel would be beneficial.
