Help our neighbors in Avoyelles Parish 💙

Several Lafayette organizations have joined together to collect flood relief supplies for residents impacted by the devastating flooding in Avoyelles Parish.

From now through Monday, June 22, community members can drop off donations at any Lafayette Fire Department station between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Mayor- President Boulet and Fire Chief Borden welcomed 6 new recruits to our department this morning as they embark on a 16 week recruit training through our fire academy. We thank them for choosing our noble profession and wish them well.

Congratulations to our senior Engineers on completing Phase 1 (40 hours) of LFD's Officer Program. An 80 hour leadership development program preparing future supervisor on the department. Thanks to Training Chief Gauthier and DC Finfrock for providing the classes. Special thanks to Fire Chief Borden and CAO Godeaux for their support.

Firefighters visited Camp Inspire today at MLK Jr. Center to give fire safety tips and safety house tour. Kids had a blast.

Our firefighters visited a summer camp, Camp Inspire, at LCG MLK Jr. Center this morning. Firefighters had a friendly competition putting on gear for the kids. Having fun and talking fire safety this summer. Keeping our community safe.

Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Tampico Restaurant on Johnston Street this morning. Fire started in the kitchen due to a pot with cooking oil igniting on a commercial stove and spread to the roof causing substantial damage in the kitchen area. No injuries reported.
