Shoutout to our amazing Saturday crew! You never shy away from a new challenge. We also want to send a huge, special thank you to JPL’s Lauren B. for sharing her time and talent with us today to teach us the beautiful craft of origami.

Did you know that origami principles go way beyond paper crafts? Engineers and physicists at NASA actually use origami techniques to fold up massive solar panels so they can fit inside rockets and deploy once they reach space!

Thank you again to Lauren for a fantastic and mind-bending session, and to our dedicated crew for making every Saturday so special.

Celebrate the special bond between mamas and their little llamas! Join us this Wednesday, May 6, at 11:00 AM for a very special Mother’s Day Storytime. We will be reading the sweet and relatable classic, Llama Llama Home with Mama by Anna Dewdney. Whether you’re a mama, grandma, or caregiver, we’d love to have you and your little ones join us for this cozy morning of reading and connection. It’s the perfect way to kick off Mother’s Day week!

The Lafitte Library loves its tweens and teens! We had another wonderful Dewey Doables, and the kids did a fantastic job making heartfelt gifts for mom! Send your favorite young adults our way every other Saturday beginning at 1:00PM to get in on the fun!

We had such a wonderful time today hosting the students from Allen Ellender School at the Lafitte Library! It was a joy to see so many young Eagles exploring our shelves, enjoying a story, and learning more about what their local library has to offer. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made for a truly special field trip! A huge thank you to the teachers and chaperones for coordinating this visit. We hope to see all of these bright faces back here again very soon with their families! Keep reading, Eagles! 🦅 📚

We’ve got a great S.T.E.A.M. Storytime just for you! We’ll be reading Tad by Benji Davies. Tad is praised for its themes of resilience, growth, and finding inner strength. Immediately following, we’ll be making a mobile identifying the lifecycle of a frog. Jump on over to your Ruth Perrin Adam Lafitte Library on Wednesday at 11:00AM.
