The Easter Bunny made its annual visit to Laflin Borough this afternoon. The Laflin Fire Department had the honor of escorting the Easter bunny around town to say hello to all the good kids of Laflin. After that, the Easter Bunny was then escorted to the Laflin Rec Board’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at the St. Maria Goretti Church. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Laflin Rec Board for allowing us to be involved in this event every year.

This afternoon Rep. Jim Haddock paid us a visit to check out the return on his investment after his support for our department in a 2024 LSA Grant award to replace our aging and out of service Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA’s) when an alarm cut the visit short. Here, you see Engine 5 leaving the garage before the tones even stop.

We are extremely grateful for his support and the support of our municipality on obtaining grant funding to allow us to continue to provide the level of service our residents and visitors expect.

The Laflin Fire Department is excited to announce the receipt of 12 brand new 3M Scott XD Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), 1 Rapid Intervention Pak, accompanied by 12 spare cylinders. This delivery replaces our entire cache of SCBA’s that have reached the end of their life and are no longer recognized for fire service use by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This purchase was made thanks to a 2024 Local Share Account award for $159,000 applied for by Laflin Borough.

We’re extremely thankful for the support from our local government recognizing the need and importance for local public safety and also to State Representative Jim Haddock , Senator Marty Flynn and their team for also taking a public safety first approach and advocating for this funding for our department. And finally to Dave Peddit, with DiVal Safety Equipment for working tirelessly with us throughout this process. His product knowledge was second to none.

Purchases of this magnitude are impossible for many fire departments, both volunteer and career without the support of local government as costs for equipment skyrocket while budgets remain tight.

Volunteers spend much of the day today getting this equipment in service to be ready as a moments notice to continue to serve you.
